Claiming Faith: Claiming the Promise

God gives us the promise of salvation, now and forever, and in turn, we promise to God that we will live as a people, the community of God.  May we remember that we are washed clean and begin life anew, that we are fed by the Holy Spirit and called to feed others, and that we are invited to lives of service as we remember our baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and foot washing.

All:          O God, our Keeper of Faith,                                                                                     help us to keep the faith entrusted to us:

Right:             faith in a world worth saving,

Left:                faith in a dream worth sharing,

Right:             faith in a heritage worth keeping.

All:          We continue the mission of Christ,

Left:                making disciples, forgiving and restoring sinners,

Right:             baptizing believers, sharing the Lord’s Supper,

Left:                using our gifts in unity and love.

All:          God, help us to keep faith in you,

Right:             and help us not lose faith in ourselves,

Left:                for faith is the substance of our hope,

All:                  and our hope is the assurance of love.
