Bike to Church Sunday, On June 16th, WMC will participate in a fundraiser for MCC.  We will ride, (or haul), our bikes to Central Park in Washington at 8:30 am for juice and donuts then we'll ride together to church on East Polk.  We will get sponsors to pledge money for each block, that we ride.  See the bulletin insert for the projects we will be helping to fund.

The Hymn Sing Hustle will take place at IMS on Saturday, June 22.  There will be 5K ($25) and a 1-mile fun run/walk ($15).  To register, please contact an IMS music student or visit tinyurl.com/hymnsinghustle.

Area Mennonite Churches

The Center for Faith and Business is offering, “Jubilee: God’s Good News for the Faith and Business community,” a 3-part study and discussion that will provide an opportunity for people to reflect together on how we can embrace business as a spiritual calling.  The class will run June 3rd and 10th at 7pm at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce and on June 17th at 7pm at Geyer’s Oven in Oxford, IA.  Registration deadline is May 27; $35 for all three classes or $15 at the door per session.  For more information and to register, see the poster in the church foyer or call Anna Geyer at 319.828.4257 or email dageyer at southslope.net.

Central Plains Conference
The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for everyone who is preparing for Central Plains Annual Meeting, that our gathering would be a time we may together grow as a community that is ‘guided by the Spirit, knowing God’s love.’

There is still time to register for Central Plains Mennonite Conference Annual Meeting.  Registration forms are available in the church office or at www.centralplainsmc.org. The Annual Meeting web page contains details regarding schedule, theme, speaker, youth delegates, children's activities and other logistics.  

Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Mary Raber of MMN is dividing her time this year between classroom teaching in Ukraine and working from the United States while she cares for her parents.  Pray for her as she finishes a three-month course at Odessa Theological Seminary and prepares to spend June through August in the United States.

Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Pray for Mark Thiessen Nation as he teaches the course, ‘Biblical Foundations of Justice and Peacebuilding,’ for Eastern Mennonite Seminary and Eastern Mennonite University’s Summer Peacebuilding Institute.

MCC Central States is recruiting for an Office Manager in the North Newton office. The position is Tuesday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Washington Area

Parkview Home is planning on re-shingling the apartment complex on June 7th and 8th.  Anyone wanting to have fun, fellowship and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, please meet us on those two days at 7am or later.  For those energetic individuals, we are planning on performing some initial tear-off on Thursday June 6th starting at 5pm.  If you are unable to attend any of these days prayers for safety and dry weather will be appreciated.  Thanks Bill.
