Iowa Mennonite School

IMS’s Academic & Fine Arts Awards Night will take place Tuesday, May 7th in Celebration Hall at 7pm. 

Anyone interested in and/or curious about IMS is invited to an Open House at the school on Sunday, May 5th.  Come for a delicious meal to be served beginning at 12 noon, and see what’s happening at the schoool.  Students and teachers alike will be on hand to provide tours and share what’s happening on and off campus!  The come-and-go will last until 3pm.  Please contact Candi Schmieder for further info.

IMS is looking for adults and students to help plan activities and games for the MCC Children’s Booth May 31 and June 1.  Please contact Candi Schmieder at the school if there is interest in helping out.

Area Mennonite Churches

MCC would like to invite you to a Learning Tour to Haiti November 2-12, 2013.  This 10 day tour will give you a first-hand look at the problems Haiti is still facing in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, Hurrican Sandy, and other social-economical issues.  If you are interested in being an active participant, dedicated to learning and being transformed through interactions with Haitians, then this is the learning tour for you.  Space is very limited.  Please respond to Anna Yoder by Monday, June 3 at annayoder at mcc.org or 316.283.2720.

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Praise God for the ministry of the Quito Mennonite Church in Ecuador as they reach out to refugees and others in need.  Pray for health and wisdom for the pastors, César Moya and Patricia Urueña, as they teach and provide leadership.  They are supported by MMN, Central Plains Mennonite Conference, and the Mennonite Church in Colombia.

Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Today seniors will complete their journeys at Bluffton University at the commencement ceremony.  As they branch out into their own individual careers, we ask that you pray for their continued success and motivation to carry out God’s plans.


Washington Area

Quest 4  is coming!  “The Anthem, What Story will your life tell?”  Please come and bring a friend.  Quest is a free community event for all ages.  It’s coming to Mid-Prairie High School on May 5th at 6pm.  Join us to lift up the name of Jesus!

The National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 373 of Washington, in conjunction with the US Postal Service, will be holding a local food drive on Saturday, May 11th to help local families in need.  To participate, put non-perishable food near your mailbox on May 11th before the mail carrier arrives.  All food collected will stay in Washington!
