Dinner Theatre Recap Party:  All those involved in the dinner theatre are invited meet at church tonight at 5pm, to discuss what went well this year, what needs tweaking, and how we can improve and be more efficient in the future.  Bring finger foods for a potluck supper and we’ll have a big screen set-up to watch the DVDs Keith gave us from ALL the past productions.

MCC Pancakes:  We need 20 people to help serve pancakes at the MCC Sale in Iowa City on Saturday, June 1.  This has been a project of our church for the last 38 years.  We need to be in Iowa City at 6:30am to set up for serving beginning at 7:00.  Our shift would be over at 9:00.  Sign up in the foyer.  See Myron if you have questions, need a ride, etc.

The Crooked Creek Christian Camp Cabin Fund is in full swing.  To contribute your time/money/skills fill out a pledge sheet (with envelopes at the back of the sanctuary). 


Iowa Mennonite School

The IMS Principal Search Committee asks for prayers of support and guidance as they search for an educational leader for the 2014-2015 school year.

All are invited to enjoy an Alumni & Friends Choir concert in Celebration Hall on Saturday, May 25th, at 7:00pm.  Bill Eash, former IMS music instructor, will lead the choir in singing old favorites from years gone by as well as more recent pieces.  There is an admission fee and reception for all following the concert, compliments of the IMS Alumni Association.


IMS is looking for adults and students to help plan activities and games for the MCC Children’s Booth May 31 and June 1.  Please contact Candi Schmieder at the school if there is interest in helping out.


Crooked Creek Christian Camp

On June 8, 7-9pm, there will be a farewell reception for Mary Lou Farmer recognizing her years of service to Camp.  Watch your church mailboxes for an invitation to this event.

CCCC announces open dates at the Retreat Lodge for July 26-28, 2013.  Call the camp now at 319.653.3611 to reserve it for your group.


Area Mennonite Churches

Pleasant View Mennonite Church is looking for a volunteer pianist to help out on Sunday mornings.  They are very tolerant of ability levels.  Please let them know if you would like to sub occassionally or play more regularly by emailing pleasantviewmennonite at hotmail.com or calling 385.8562.

There will be a special ‘shopping with a cause’ fundraiser event at Fairview Mennonite Church, Saturday May 25th from 10:00-1:00.  Haitian Creations is a part of Heartline Ministries to Haiti and is raising funds to build a much needed maternity center and also provides jobs for Haitian women, enabling them to support themselves and learn more about Christ’s love in the process.  You can view their complete line of products on their webpage at www.haitiancreations.com.  For more info about this exciting event, please contact Dorothy Miller at LDMILLER4 at yahoo.com or call 319.325.9357.

The Center for Faith and Business is offering, “Jubilee: God’s Good News for the Faith and Business community,” a 3-part study and discussion that will provide an opportunity for people to reflect together on how we can embrace business as a spiritual calling.  The class will run June 3rd and 10th at 7pm at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce and on June 17th at 7pm at Geyer’s Oven in Oxford, IA.  Registration deadline is May 27; $35 for all three classes or $15 at the door per session.  For more information and to register, see the poster in the church foyer or call Anna Geyer at 319.828.4257 or email dageyer at southslope.net.


Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for Tim and Carol Detweiler and the Ecuador churches as they gather this weekend for a retreat near Quito.  Pray that the Detweilers’ time with the Ecuador churches will be fruitful.


Mennonite Agencies

Children’s Auction:  Bridgette Ingersol is collecting items to be sold at the Children’s Auction on June 1st at 9:00am.  The items should be in good condition and attractive to children and their parents.  Bring items to the fairgrounds either Friday evening or early Saturday morning.

MCC Sale Meals in Homes:  There is still time to volunteer to provide a meal for sale at the Annual MCC Sale to be held May 31 and June 1.  To list your meal for proper advertising, contact Marcia Miller at 319.656.3242, 319.430.3376 (cell), or email at marcia at kctc.net.

How does a local community provide healthcare for everyone, even the poor and uninsured?  Leaders from Goshen, Indiana’s large institutions and innovative clinics will share their experience at the second Annual Gathering of Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship (MHF), June 21-23, on the campus of Goshen College.  This is just one of a number of discussions on the theme “Moral Dilemmas in Healthcare.”  All healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, therapists of all types, nutritionists, social workers, educators, etc) and other interested persons are invited to come and bring the whole family.  For more information visit www.mennohealth.org, or call 888.406.3643.

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Though Justin Shenk and Valerie Showalter of MMN have been in the United Kingdom for only a few months, they say London is beginning to feel like home.  Pray for Valerie as she leads worship and takes her turn preaching at Clapton Park United Reformed Church, and for Justin as he works in the church office.

Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Pray for safety, relationship-building and good memories for Central Christian School seniors and class representatives on their Senior Class Trip, today through May 22.
