Amanda is on a family vacation in Michigan and next week will be at conference in Nebraska. She will return to the office on Tuesday, July 3.
This
summer we’ll be hearing from various members of our church community and the
larger community on a variety of
topics during the adult Sunday School hour.
On the schedule so far are: today, Gay Widmer and Mike Bates talking
about their trip to Haiti, July 15, Roger Farmer talking about his trip to
Ecuador, August 19, Martha Yoder talking about beauty all around us, Trent
Yoder, talking about how to approach those who are grieving, and information on
Parents as Teachers. We look forward to
adding more speakers and topics to the list as the summer series approaches.
Contact
Jo Ann Stout if you would like to
continue, or start, receiving Timbrel, Mennonite Women USA’s
magazine.
A
thank-you from Parkview Home is
posted on the bulletin for all the help they received to repair a roof.
Iowa Mennonite School
IMS’s
fiscal year ends June 30 . . . the end of the coming week. As a
community, financial support has been outstanding, and it is much
appreciated! As we approach the end of June, more than $172,000 has been
contributed by way of gifts and contributions; an additional $37,000 is needed
to reach the 2011-12 goal of $210,000. Please consider a gift if you
haven't -- or if you already have! -- yet done so. Thank you very much!
Mennonite Agencies
Are you a young
adult who feels called to serve? Service
Adventure, Mennonite Voluntary
Service and DOOR:
Dwell are still accepting
applications! MVS (ages 20+) and Dwell (ages 18-30) are year-long programs in
which you serve alongside a community and congregation. Service Adventure is a
similar 10-month program for young adults ages 17-20. Get involved and serve
next year! Visit MennoniteMission.net/Serve for details.
Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request: Janie Blough,
who has served with MMN in France with husband, Neal, since 1975, is passionate
about music and its contribution to building the church. Pray for inspiration as Janie develops a
curriculum that will help recover and maintain the Anabaptist-Mennonite music
tradition, and also will affirm the diverse musical cultures that make up the
French Mennonite church.
The Sower Prayer Request: Pray for
Blaine Friesen, Central Plains moderator, as he prepares for business and
discernment and Annual Meeting in Henderson, Nebraska, next weekend.
Washington Area
Sean and Lori Bontrager
and their seven children from Sarasota, FL will be
blessing us with a program on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at 6:30
p.m. at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. They have just completed
recording their first CD. Their desire is to bring honor and glory to God
and encouragement to others through singing. All invited to this event!
A family from Centro
Cristiano is in need of a new roof for their house. Jason Boller has agreed to oversee the
project. When a date is set the SE Iowa
Mennonite churches will be asked to help replace the roof. There is also need for some financial
assistance. With voluntary help it is
expected to cost $4300. The family will
contribute what they are able. If anyone
wants to help in addition please designate on your check an amount for the
treasurer to apply to the “roofing project.”
