▪ Amanda is in Illinois at a reunion of college
friends.
▪ The chicken fajita dinner for Karen Cardenas/IMS was
a great success. Close to $3000 was raised with the possibility of more
sales and donations! Thanks to Centro
Cristiano for their hard work as well as donations of beans, tortillas, tomatoes,
etc. Thanks to all who attended and
supported.
▪ Thank you to everyone who helped serve at the
Saturday Kitchen last week on
Saturday, July 16th. We had a
great crew of workers which spanned all ages.
We served ice-cream for dessert and it was a huge success and highlight
of their day. One of the guests who
comes regularly to Saturday Kitchen had asked if we would serve ice-cream
sometime because they get so hungry for ice-cream. Thank you if you supplied food items, helped
serve the meal, set the table, or helped clean up or gave money to help with
expenses. Each of you are
appreciated. – Phyllis, Gloria, Sandy
▪ Birthday Breakfast Club: If you celebrate your birthday in June, July,
or August mark your calendars and
join Amanda for breakfast and fellowship on August 20th at 9:00am.
▪ There are still many ways to help out
with our summer worship series. Be a children’s story and playtime
supervisor, bring treats for fellowship time after church, sign up to bring
lunch to the Baptism class. Signup
sheets are in the foyer by the mailboxes.
Iowa Mennonite
School
▪ Sign up for Summer Camps! There are
still available spots in our summer boys’ basketball (July 25-29 for grades
5-10), youth volleyball (Aug 1-3 for grades 4-8) and drama camps (Aug 1-5 for
ages 7 and up). All of these camps
provide learning and fun for camp attendees.
Find our more information about all of these camps on our website. Online registrations are also available at:
www.iowamennonite.org/camps
▪ Please come support IMS on Saturday,
August 27th. There will be several events happening throughout the
day at IMS in which you can participate.
We would love to see as many of you there as possible, and so the
congregation with the most representation will receive donuts provided by the
IMS PTO on a Sunday morning of your choice!
The IMS
PTO will be hosting the JOETOWN CLASSIC
5K. There will be a kids 1 mile race
starting at 8:30am, and a 5K Run/Walk for people of all ages starting at
9am. There will even be kids activities
planned during the 5K race! Details and
registration can be found at www.iowamennonite.org. Please spread the word!
Everence welcomes the opportunity to partner with the IMS PTO
in sponsoring the Joetown Classic 5K Run. In addition, Everence is hosting a complimentary lunch between
11am-1pm. Stop by our table, sign up for
prizes, challenge someone at a corn-hole game, and fellowship while enjoying
lunch.
Be a part of an easy $6000 donation to
IMS!
All you have to do is take a short, no sales pitch, test drive
(without a sales person) from IMS to Lower Deer Creek. Really
it’s that easy, and it’s free.
Anyone 18 yrs or older with a drivers license can pick from a variety of
Ford vehicles and take this very short test drive. For each drive, IMS gets $20 from Deery
Ford. Test Drives will take place between 8am-2pm. Take a couple minutes to join this effort
and you really can make a difference for IMS.
Crowded Closet

▪ Mennonite
Mission Network Prayer Request: Praise God
for the courage of the persecuted Christians in Sidi, Burkina Faso, who
overcame violence with acts of love.
Join MMN in praying that the crops they planted this year will produce a
plentiful harvest, even as their seeds of faith help grow the church.
▪ Mennonite Education Agency Prayers for Faith and
Learning: Pray for members of the incoming class at AMBS as they
prepare to transition to seminar study.
May they sense God’s peace and presence as they make space in their
lives for new academic challenges, transformative experiences and relationships
that will play a part in shaping their calling.
