Washington Mennonite

▪ Offering for 7/10/16: $1,785 (regular); $105 (Saturday Kitchen), $50 (carpet fund) 

▪ Friends of Pastor Max has a limited supply of Villatoro Family Blend Coffee for sale in the Fellowship Hall.  Proceeds from the coffee sales go directly to the Villatoro family fund.  $15/bag can be paid in cash or check made to Central Plains Mennonite Conference, earmarked “coffee.”  Thanks for your continued support of the Villatoro family.  Anthony, Edna, Angela nad Aileen are currently visiting Max in Ensenada Mexico.  Gloria was unable to get permission from immigration officials to join them on this trip.  Please continue to pray that their family can be reunited soon.

▪ Join Centro Cristiano today for a fundraiser for Karen Cardenas, an IMS student from Centro Cristiano, for lunch in the fellowship hall. Together with folks from Lower Deer Creek, Sugar Creek, East Union and West Union Churches we’ll eat chicken fajitas with sides.  Yum!  A free will offering will be taken.  Please sign up in the foyer today if you plan to
attend.  Martha Hernandez would like to plan ahead how much food to buy and prepare.

▪ Birthday Breakfast Club:  If you celebrate your birthday in June, July, or August mark your calendars and join Amanda for breakfast and fellowship on August 20th at 9:00am.

▪ RAGBRAI comes to Washington on July 29th!  Be sure to sign-up to support the MYF fundraiser by baking pies, preparing pasta salad, or volunteering at church.  See Amy Widmer or the sign-up sheets in the Fellowship Hall for more details.

▪ There are still many ways to help out with our summer worship series.  Be a children’s story and playtime supervisor, bring treats for fellowship time after church, sign up to bring lunch to the Baptism class.  Signup sheets are in the foyer by the mailboxes.


Crooked Creek Christian Camp

▪ Grandfolk/Littlefolk day is in TWO days, July 19, from 9am-3pm.  We appreciate your continued prayers for campers, counselors and all staff as we share the love of Christ to youth. 

▪ High School Camp is July 21-24.  This is our last camp this summer!  Thank you for all your prayers for camp ministry this summer, for campers, counselors and staff.  We have been greatly blessed this summer in our play and study of God’s peace for our lives.  We have experienced wonderful God moments and felt the blessing of Christ’s presence upon our camp this summer!  Thank you!

Mennonite Agencies

▪ MCC invites you on a Learning Tour to Haiti Oct 31-Nov 8, 2016.  On this Soil to Table MCC Learning Tour, participants will meet Haitian farmers, marketers and cooks, and learn the importance of food in everyday life, from the soil up.  Contact Anna Yoder at annayoder(at)mcc.org or at 316.283.2720 for more information.

▪ MC USA Announcement:  Blog series: Returning Veterans, Returning Hope.  Check out this blog series featuring people, congregations and organization in MC USA who are working with veterans who have experienced the trauma of war.  For more information, see: http://mennoniteusa.org/?s=returning+vets.          

▪ Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:  Jane and Jerrell Ross Richer and their four children are transitioning from their MMN ministry in Ecuador to six months of mission work in the US.  Pray for a smooth cultural move.  Remember also those suffering from Ecuador’s 7.8 magnitude earthquake in April.

▪ Mennonite Education Agency Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Pray for students in summer classes at Goshen College, especially those in the nursing program.


Area Announcements

▪ The youth from Kalona Mennonite will be going to Fort Belknap to serve with Montana Indian Ministries in August.  A fundraiser meal for their trip will be held at KMC on Sunday, July 24th from noon to 1pm.  Come on over to enjoy grilled pork burgers, potato salad, beans, coleslaw, fresh fruit, brownies with ice cream, and donate some money for the meal and their trip!

▪ Madeline Leichty, daughter of Deon and Jo Leichty and a 2016 IMS graduate has been accepted into the SALT program with MCC.  She will be going to Nicaragua in August for 12 months to assist in teaching English.  A fundraising meal will be held on Sunday, July 31st at Bethel Mennonite Church from 12pm – 2pm.  The free will donation will go toward the financial support Madeline will need for her trip.  Come and enjoy some great food and take some time to visit with Madeline about her upcoming mission!
