Call
to Worship, Prayer
Leader: “In the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth.” Do you remember the story?
People: Yes! We remember.
It was you, Lord, who put the stars in the sky. And you brought the Israelites out of Egypt. We remember that it was you who spoke to the
people through the prophets. We remember
that you, O God, called us into being and made us your people.
Leader: You do remember! The story is older. It is older than our bones, kept in faith,
kept by faith.
People: We
remember the story. Mary, unwed and
young, but willing to do God’s work.
Saul converted with visions and a flash of light; in his blindness,
really seeing. We remember the touch of
God’s grace.
Leader: The story is old, but it is also
new. God is still working in our lives,
God is still forming us into a people.
We remember the story, and we live the story!
All:
We thank you for being our God in ages past and for ages to
come. Today we celebrate the story that
is strong and vibrant in the lives of all people. May the word awaken us all today, so that we
may never forget.
