to Worship, Prayer
Leader: “In the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth.” Do you remember the story?
People: Yes! We remember.
It was you, Lord, who scratched light out across the surface of
darkness. We remember that it was you
who swept across the face of the sea. We
remember that you, O God, called us into being and made us your people.
Leader: You do remember! The story is older. It is older than our bones, kept in faith,
kept by faith.
People: The
story surrounds our senses. We remember
hearing the laughter of Sarah. We
remember seeing old Moses climbing mountains.
We remember dry bones rising up.
We remember the touch of God’s grace.
All: We thank you for being our God in ages past
and for ages to come. Today we celebrate
the story that is strong and vibrant in the lives of all people. May the word awaken us all today, so that we
may never forget.
