The elders gratefully announce that Mary Lou Farmer has accepted the call to serve as an elder of Washington Mennonite Church.  This is a three year term and will begin on September 1, 2015.  Next Sunday, July 26^th, a vote of the congregation will be taken to confirm Mary Lou as our new elder.

It’s school kit time!  Take a bag (or two or three) from the table in the hall.  A list of items is included in each bag.  More bags will be coming later.  Return them by Aug 31, 2015.  Thank for your generosity!

Kitchen Remodeling Project Update:

As of July 8, funds given in cash and pledges for the remodel project total $44,875.  This amount is $8,125 short of our goal of $53,000.  The Church Council wants to give everyone another opportunity to contribute or give additional funds before July 26.  The council will meet after the July 26 deadline to review the additional giving received and will make a determination about the future of the project.

Washington Mennonite will be providing relief counselors at Camp Reese on August 3^rd.  More details later.

     

                                                                                                                  

Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  This week, Anabaptists from all over the world will gather in Harrisburg, Pa., for Mennonite World Conference.  Pray that this gathering will glorify God and enrich the global Anabaptist church.    

Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:  Martine Audéoud and Gary Wittig engage in teaching ministries in Ivory Coast through Mennonite Mission Network.  Pray that papers from a powerful symposium (presenting guidelines for the church’s witness during political elections) will be available to the public before October when national presidential elections are scheduled to take place.

Area Announcements

Noon Today – A Chicken Curry Fundraiser Meal and Desserts will be served at West Union in support of Jacob Yoder and Nicholas Yoder, who will be serving with MCC’s 1-year SALT program in India and Bolivia, respectively.
