Iowa Mennonite
School
IMS is pleased to announce the
appointment of Steve Schrag as principal and chief administrator, beginning Aug
1st. Steve and Meghan, along with their daughters Greta
and Eden, will move to Southeast Iowa from Telford, PA, where Steve has served
as Middle School principal at Penn View Christian School in Souderton for the
past eight years. The IMS community
welcomes the Schrags to the area…we look forward to continuing the mission of
educating our students in a Chirst-centered environment. More

Camp Creamery Drama Camp at IMS will again take place this
summer, from July 27-31…for children
ages 7 and up (through high school).
Rehearsals will be during the day, with a performance on Friday, July

The 21-voice IMS Touring Choir, under the direction of Josh Tyson, will present
their final church concert of the year on Sunday, May 10th
at 6:30pm. The program will be at
Washington Mennonite Church. All are
welcome to come and worship with them!
IMS’s Spring Music Concert will be at 3pm on Sunday, May 17th in Celebration Hall. Both the Touring Choir and Chorale will sing,
and the concert will also include music by the Symphonic Band, Chamber Singers,
and other smaller ensembles. All are
invited to attend the concert, under the direction of Josh Tyson.
IMS’s Academic & Fine Arts Awards Night will take place Tuesday, May 5th, at 7pm in Celebration
Hall. The evening will include the
recognition of students’ academic achievements, plus induction of new members
into the National Honor Society. All are
welcome to attend.
MCC Iowa Relief
Sale
Volunteers are needed who are willing
to provide an in-home meal to be sold at the annual Iowa Mennonite Relief Sale on May 29 and
30. To list your in-home meal for proper

The Iowa Mennonite Relief Sale is
taking place May 29-31 and you can help. Volunteers are needed

The Sower Prayer Request: This
morning, Rachelle Luitjens will be licensed toward ordination at Sugar Creek
Mennonite Church, Wayland, IA. Husband
Nathan is the full-time pastor, and Rachelle will be installed as half-time
pastor of mission and faith formation.
Pray for Rachelle, Nathan and the congregation as they adjust to new
patterns of ministry together.

HELP
PEOPLE IN NEPAL: MCC is requesting
donations to support its response to the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that shook
Nepal April 25th. Focusing its initial emergency response on
hard-hit rural communities, MCC is providing food, tarps, blankets and cooking
pots and utensils. A longer-term
response will be determined as MCC and its partners assess the situation. Please pray for the people of Nepal and the
work of MCC. Donations can be made at

Mennonite
Mission Network Prayer Request: The deadline to apply for MMN’s
Voluntary Service program is May 31st. Pray that those whom God is calling to live
out their faith will respond affirmatively.
Crowded
Closet will expand its hours during May-August.
We will be opening Monday-Friday from 9:30-6:00
and Saturday from 9:30-4:00. We look

The
Crowded Closet Thrift Shop, Iowa City, is seeking a full-time Furniture
Assistant. This
position would involve managing the flow of donations through the Furniture
area, pricing items, and managing salvaged items. Applicant must be able to work in a fast
paced environment, be on your feet, be able to lift 30-50 lbs., work both
independently and as part of a team.
Applicant would be required to work two Saturdays a month. Excellent public relation skills are

Washington UMC is proud to host Joshua Evanovich in concert on Sunday, May 3rd,
at 2pm. The entire
community is invited to enjoy his mixture of music for piano and organ
including arrangements of favorite hymns, classical w2orks, and even a few

of Life Planning Seminars. Dr
Glen Miller of Goshen, IN has written the book “Living Thoughtfully Dying Well”
which describes his experience of dying twice and is a collection of stories
designed to help us think about and plan for our own or our families end of
life experiences. Dr Miller will make
presentations and offer time for discussion:
East Union Mennonite (May 7
at 7pm), Sugar Creek Mennonite (May 8
at 7pm), Lower Deer Creek (May 10 at
6pm). On Saturday, May 9 there will be a meeting designed for medical care providers [nurses,
doctors, therapists, counselors and allied personnel] at Iowa City Mennonite at
7pm.
The
Celebration Community Choir will perform at 7pm on Saturday, May 9th at IMS. The program, which was based on the singers’
own musical interests, will include pieces spanning from Palestrina to
contemporary pop and will also engage the music and cultural significance of
several traditional Mexican songs. The
singers have enjoyed an open and inviting music-making experience and are
excited to share. Everyone is invited
and admission is free.
Seize
The Summer Tour event with Polen Band and Off The Wall
Ministries will take place on Wednesday, May
13th at 7pm at IMS Celebration Hall. This event is free and open to the
