Happy Birthday to:
Mary Lou Farmer (5/27)
Offering for
5/17/15: $1,766 (regular); $2,200 (kitchen);
Elder selection is coming up on June 7th. Be thinking
and praying about who you would like to nominate to join Myron Graber and Jon
Widmer on the elder board. Barb Ramsey
is the outgoing elder. Nomination
ballots will be handed out and collected on June 7th.
Our summer series “Seeking God’s Will
Together” begins next Sunday, May 31st. ALL should plan to come and participate in
our truly Anabaptist-style worship—listening and speaking to one another in
love as we discern together who we are being called to be as the people of God
here in Washington. Each week of the series we will worship
together around tables, hear presentations about why and how we discern, agree,
and disagree together, and have a chance to practice what we’ve learned in
conversations about scripture and issues.
This is important work! The series will run ever-other Sunday
May31-August 9.
I
scream, you scream, we all scream for pie and ice cream! Join
the youth for our next convention fundraiser, a pie and ice cream social with a
hymn sing. On Sunday, June 14th
at 6pm we will be hosting a hymn sing here at Washington Mennonite and
afterwards there will be pie and ice cream.
More details of the evenings’ frivolities are to come! Please join us.
Have you made your contribution/pledge
yet? Washington Mennonite’s Kitchen
Remodeling Project fundraising is in
full swing! Our goal is $52,900 by July
1, 2015. The measuring cup in the foyer
will continue to fill up as we reach our goal.
Pledge cards and a basket for collecting them can be found on the table
at the back of the sanctuary. Please
take a few minutes to fill out your pledge and drop it in the basket or come
prepared to do so in the next few weeks.
As soon as we know we can reach our goal, local contractors can be
notified so the project is on their calendars.
Work could begin later this summer.
Help us make this project a reality!

Area Announcements
Urgent
Need: We have several dozen quilt tops for Nepal that need to be knotted. We are planning a work night at Kalona
Mennonite Church between 6:00 and 9:00pm on Tuesday evening, the 26th. Men, women, and youth – anyone can tie a
square knot – are needed. We could also
use a few sewing machines to sew binding down.
We want to get these comforters finished by the MCC sale, because we
will have people to transport them to Newton, KS and Goshen, IN and get them to
those in need. If anyone has any
finished comforters that they would like to donate, you can bring them along
that evening. Prayerfully consider
helping, even if only for an hour. Any
questions, call Juanita at 319.656.3939.
