Our Church

Happy Birthday to:  Shelly Bruegge (11/24)
Justin Bruegge (11/28), Joanne Roth (11/30)

Happy Anniversary to:  J R & Kenna Roth (11/24)

Offering for 11/17/2013: $2,066.01 (regular), $200 (HACAP)

Starting on Dec 1st, we’ll be having 15 minutes of Christmas caroling before our Sunday morning worship services.  Carols will start at 9:15 and our service will start at the usual time, 9:30.  Come sing with us to celebrate the season!

We know that our congregation is home to many musicians.  The worship commission would like to extend an invitation to individuals, families, extended families and friends who would like to offer special music as part of our Christmas Eve service.  If you would like to volunteer, please talk to or email Edie Nebel ASAP.  Thanks!

Amanda is gone today on a women’s weekend with family.

Christmas Hymn Sing:  It’s nearly impossible to sing enough Christmas carols—but we’d like to try!  Washington Mennonite is inviting Kalona Mennonite to a Christmas hymn sing on Dec 1 at 6pm.  Please plan to come and bring finger-foods to share!  It’ll be great to usher in the Christmas spirit together!

Washington’s next time helping with the Saturday Kitchen is Dec 7.  Cindy is in need of 5 sheet cakes and lots of helpers.  Talk to Cindy Widmer if you’re able to help out.

“You may be wondering if we are going to help in the Tornado clean up in and around Washington, IL.  I talked Friday morning with Leonard Kennel, MDS Region II Director, and he said that the local response to clean up has been overwhelming in the rural areas.  The town of Washington has been closed down much of the time.  Leonard says that the word is that it will be closed again on Monday and Tuesday of next week.  So at least for now, until we have some further word, the Iowa Unit will not get involved.  We will give further notice if the time comes we should help in some way.”  - Myron Graber, MDS Rep
