Christmas Hymn Sing:  It’s nearly impossible to sing enough Christmas carols—but we’d like to try!  Washington Mennonite is inviting Kalona Mennonite to a Christmas hymn sing on Dec 1 at 6pm.  Please plan to come and bring finger-foods to share!  It’ll be great to usher in the Christmas spirit together!

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Please remember Camp’s Fall Fundraiser and check your brochure for more information.  Some items include a new roof for the house, table saw, commercial refrigerator and energy efficient lighting.

The Pavilion roof North side will be replaced with steel sheeting Nov 22-23.  We still need a few more volunteers with this project.  Please contact the camp to volunteer.

“Come to the Table,” Craft Retreat will be Fri, Dec 6 – Sat, Dec 7 for a time of crafting and fellowship.  Detailed information about the retreat is in your Nov newsletter or visit www.crookedcreekcamp.org under the “Program Page” for more information and to register.  You may also register and ask questions by calling the camp office 319.653.3611.

CCCC staff thanks Angela Widmer for her service as Program Director the past two years.  Angela will be stepping away from her full time role at camp to work a part-time job and spend more time as Eliza’s mother.  Recently, Megan Miller accepted the invitation to be the Interim Program Director starting Mon, Nov 18th.

Iowa Mennonite School

The IMS Music Boosters are again organizing a Pizza Ranch Fundraiser, on Mon, Nov 18 at the Sycamore Mall location in Iowa City.  The event will be from 5-8pm; IMS music students will bus tables and assist throughout the evening, with 15% of the proceeds benefiting the booster club.  Patrons must have a flyer/coupon to present in order for IMS to receive the funds; the coupon is available at http://www.iowamennonite/org/wp-content/uploads/ 2013/10/Pizza-Ranch.pdf  Gratuities will also be gratefully accepted!

Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for the Central Plains Annual Meeting Task Group as they meet on Wednesday of this week to begin to plan for our 2014 Annual Meeting in Mt Pleasant, Iowa.

Mennonite Agencies

HELP THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES: MCC has begun its response to Typhoon Haiyan, providing funding for immediate needs and supporting partners in an initial assessment team and determining needs for long-term recovery.  To donate to this effort, please go to mcc.org/typhoon-response.  Thank you for your prayers for people grieving and suffering in the storm’s wake.

Mennonite Church USA and co-sponsors invite Mennonite women and women interested in Anabaptism to think about God in relation to our lives at a conference titled, All you need is love: Honoring the diversity in women’s voices in theology, Feb 20-22, 2014 near Washington DC.  Find the schedule, call for papers and workshops, and registration at the MCUSA website, where you can also donate to scholarships for the event.  www.mennoniteusa.org/women

Prayers for faith and learning:  The Instituto Biblico Anabautista (IBA) 25th anniversary benefit dinner is happening this Friday, Nov22, in Newton, Kan.  Pray that this time of celebrating and learning will help ensure the future of this vital program which is shaping the lives of leaders in the Hispanic Mennonite churches.
