Our Church

Offering for 11/24/2013: $1,715 (regular)

Starting on Dec 1st, we’ll be having 15 minutes of Christmas caroling before our Sunday morning worship services.  Carols will start at 9:15 and our service will start at the usual time, 9:30.  Come sing with us to celebrate the season!

We know that our congregation is home to many musicians.  The worship commission would like to extend an invitation to individuals, families, extended families and friends who would like to offer special music as part of our Christmas Eve service.  If you would like to volunteer, please talk to or email Edie Nebel ASAP.  Thanks!

Christmas Hymn Sing:  It’s nearly impossible to sing enough Christmas carols—but we’d like to try!  Washington Mennonite is inviting Kalona Mennonite to a Christmas hymn sing TONIGHT at 6pm.  Please plan to come and bring finger-foods to share!  It’ll be great to usher in the Christmas spirit together!

Washington’s next time helping with the Saturday Kitchen is Dec 7.  Cindy is in need of 5 sheet cakes and lots of helpers.  Talk to Cindy Widmer if you’re able to help out.

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Last Call!  Come to the Table craft retreat registrations are due Monday, Dec 2nd.  Bring your laptops and work on an online scrapbook, your sewing machine and quilt or just bring a good book and fellowship.  Register online at crookedcreekcamp.org or call camp at 319.653.3611.

Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for the annual gathering of the conference ministers of MC USA happening Wednesday through Saturday of this week.  Pray that our conference ministers will gain much from the gathering and have safe travel.

Mennonite Agencies

You’ve heard of Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, but what about Giving Tuesday, Dec 3rd?  Give God’s love this holiday season.  MennoniteMission.net/GiftCatalog

Give Hope on Giving Tuesday, Dec 3rd!  Not sure what Giving Tuesday is?  It’s a day dedicated to kicking off the Christmas giving season, a reminder that Christmas is about more than buying gifts.  Give a gift of hope by supporting the work of MCC this Christmas season.  Want to double your money?  All gifts from first time donors will be matched dollar for dollar on Giving Tuesday.  Donate online at mcc.org/giving-Tuesday or send checks to MCC PO Box 500 Akron, PA 17501 with Giving Tuesday on the memo line.

Learn outside of the box.  Service Adventure is a one-year opportunity to learn about God, life, and yourself, while serving others.  Info and applications at MennoniteMission.net/Serve.

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Barbara and Tad Wulliman of MMN, who live in Manila, request prayer for the people of the Philippines.  Many were still living in tents after an earthquake devastated their homes in October, when super-typhoon Haiyan pounded the islands.  Pray that Christians will find tangible ways to share Jesus’ love.

Prayers for faith and learning:  Please pray for Sarasota Christian School students as they present the dinner theater production, Celebration of Praise, Dec 6 & 7.  Students in band, choir, drama and strings will perform.
