Crooked Creek Christian Camp
 November 11 is WOOD CUTTING DAY starting at 8am until finished. Lunch provided, please RSVP by calling the camp office.

November 14 is ANNUAL MEETING with dinner served at 6:15pm. All are invited to celebrate camp ministry. 

November 17-18 is CRAFT RETREAT from 3pm to 3pm. Details available at crookedcreekcamp.org 


Iowa Mennonite School
Thanks to all who was on campus last weekend for Homecoming & Alumni Family Weekend. Our generous and supportive community of alumni and friends are what make us great. #weareims




IMS will present the fall musical, Anne of Green Gables, directed by Alisa Kandel and Michael Swartzendruber. Performances are Nov 4 at 7:00PM and Nov 5 at 3:00PM. Call the office 319-656-2073 now to reserve your tickets. Adults $9 and Students $5. 

Students in grades 6-8 and their families are invited to join us November 5th following the musical performance for a backstage tour and meet-the-cast event. Refreshments will be served. Come and see this important part of our school. Be sure to reserve your free tickets to the performance by calling the office 319-656-2073.

FFA members are selling fruit from now through November 13. Delivery will be the 1st week of December. Contact the office 319-656-2073 or an FFA member to purchase. 

IMS student athletes are selling pre-cut cookie dough and cheesecake to support the Athletic Department. This fundraiser goes through Oct and delivery of the items is in time for the holidays on Nov 7.

Visit Days are coming up November 15 and November 27. 8th grade and transfer students are invited to IMS for the day to shadow a current student. SundaySucCentral Plains Conference
You can still register for Listen Closely: Facilitating good discussion, a Bible study webinar provided for you from Central Plains Mennonite Conference on Tuesday at 7:30pm. Fill out the RSVP form on the Bible Study Webinars page at www.centralplainsmc.org by noon Tuesday.  

▪ Central Plains Mennonite Conference Prayer Request:  Pray for those who are planning and participating in the webinar on Tuesday at 7:30pm, "Listen Closely: Facilitating good discussion," the second in our series of three free webinars offering practical tips for leading Bible study. Also pray for the Annual Meeting Task Group meeting Thursday.


Mennonite Agencies
Mennonite Education Agency Prayers for Faith and Learning Bluffton (Ohio) University – Today, Wendy Chappell-Dick and the Anabaptist Singers will present Grace to You and Peace: Voices of the Martyrs as part of the Mirror of the Martyrs exhibit at Bluffton University. Pray for the performers who are tell the moving stories of the Anabaptist martyrs and, pray for the audience to share the message in their own lives.


Area Events
Reminder that at noon this Sunday, West Union MYF will be holding a fundraiser meal to benefit the Max and Gloria Villatoro family. Friends of Pastor Max put out a call to Central Plains churches this fall to help replenish the Villatoro Family Fund and our MYF was excited to be able to serve in this way. Most in our group are friends with the Villatoro family. Our goal is to raise $2000. Please come enjoy a delicious haystack meal and help us reach our goal to serve our friends and neighbors.

All are invited to hear Dr. Nyle Kauffman’s presentation on early medical practices in the local Amish and Mennonite community at 7:00 on October 23 at Kalona Mennonite Church.  There will also be an opportunity to join the Iowa Mennonite Historical Society, renew your membership and to buy apple butter.  Refreshments will be served.

Wednesday October 25thCurtis Fry is coming to Kalona. You have two different opportunities to hear him: 9:30 a.m.@ IMS (sponsored by IMS PTO) and 6:30 p.m. @ the Middle School (sponsored by local business') Families, youth, and all of the community are welcome to come hear him share his testimony about how the choices we make everyday impact our lives path. Fall Harvest Celebration Bring your family for hayrack rides, pumpkin bowling, face painting, photo booth and more! Costumes are welcome (nothing scary or graphic). We will be serving free hot dogs, chips and drinks. October 31, 5:30-7:30 pm; Lower Deer Creek Church, 1408 540th St SW, Kalona. We will also be doing a service project – assembling bags of candy for the Ronald McDonald house. Bring a bag of candy and join in!
