I scream, you scream, we all scream for pie and ice cream!  Join the youth for our next convention fundraiser, a pie and ice cream social with a hymn sing.  TONIGHT at 6pm we will be hosting a hymn sing here at Washington Mennonite and afterwards there will be a pie and ice cream social starting at 7pm.  Please join in singing together and enjoying delicious pie!

Have you made your contribution/pledge yet?  Washington Mennonite’s Kitchen Remodeling Project fundraising is in full swing!  Our goal is $52,900 by July 1, 2015.  The measuring cup in the foyer will continue to fill up as we reach our goal.  Pledge cards and a basket for collecting them can be found on the table at the back of the sanctuary.  Please take a few minutes to fill out your pledge and drop it in the basket or come prepared to do so in the next few weeks.  As soon as we know we can reach our goal, local contractors can be notified so the project is on their calendars.  Work could begin later this summer.  Help us make this project a reality!

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

4th-5th grade camp is next week June 14th-19th.  Please pray for campers, counselors and all staff as we minister to children and the community.

Iowa Mennonite School

IMS has a job opening for a custodian to begin August 10th.  The position is full-time throughout the school year, and based on a 9.5-month contract for the year.  For more information, please contact Tim Lehman at tlehman at

iowamennonite.org or Kris Brenneman at kbrenneman at iowamennonite.org – or either at 656.2073.

As IMS prepares to end its fiscal year on June 30th, please consider a generous gift in support of the school’s general fund.  Your generosity helps ensure continued academic excellence in a Christ-centered atmosphere!  Our students benefit from your support, and we appreciate it each and every year.  Please contact Larry Swartzendruber at 656.2073 or lswartzendruber at iowamennonite.org for more information.

MCC Iowa Relief Sale

A big thank you to all who participated in the Iowa Mennonite Relief Sale.  The community wide effort resulted in an income of $195,500.   That represents an increase of $28,203 or 16.8%.  A financial statement with a written breakdown of income and expenses will be coming soon.

We have a fairly close number to share with you regarding the “My Coins Count” totals from the 2015 MCC Iowa Relief Sale.  The totals are almost $22,000! ($21,958.72) I want to offer a great big “thank you!” to everyone who helped raise this money that will help 25 families in Guatemala to grow food all year long.  I am grateful for all your efforts and I hope that your congregations also felt joy in finding these coins.  Every coin does count and when they are added up, it makes a big difference in god’s Kingdom work.
