Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Open Gym at camp Activity Center March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 from 3:00-6:00pm.  The climbing wall will be available on March 15th.  Anyone under 18 must have a parent available to sign the release form for use of the climbing wall.

Lenten Quiet Day March 26:  Explore Going Deeper With God led by Lois Gugel and Helen Yoder starting at 9am at Shepherd’s Inn.  Though there is not cost for the day, please register online or call the camp office as lunch will be provided.

Crooked Creek Christian Camp of Washington, IA, is looking for an experienced and energetic Food Service Manager to start on or about May 15, 2015.  This position will provide overall leadership to the kitchens for year-round guests with a reputation of great hospitality and great food including summer camp and events.  The full job description can be

Iowa Mennonite School

The Search Team for IMS’s next principal has met several times in recent weeks, and invites continued prayers from the community.  Please direct questions, comments, suggestions to any of the team members: co-chairs Stacy Ropp Miller (sroppmiller at iowamennonite.org) and Greg Yoder; and Don Miller, Sheila Ours, Perry Miller, and Pam Gerig Unruh.  Thank you for your continued support of the process!

The IMS Alumni Assoc and the Washington Township Optimists will collaborate to host and serve the annual Turkey Steak Supper at IMS, on Saturday, March 14th.  Serving will be in the cafeteria (lower level of the gym) from 4:30-7:30pm.  The meal, to include turkey steak, baked potato, tossed salad, dinner roll, and homemade dessert, will be by donation only.  Please contact the school for more information.

Anne Buckwalter will present a senior recital of piano, vocal, and clarinet works on Sunday, March 15th at 3pm in Celebration Hall. 

IMS Culinary Arts students are once again hosting, preparing, and serving breakfasts in the lobby of Celebration Hall over the next couple of months.  Featuring cuisine from around the globe, the “restaurant” will be open 8:30-9:30am by reservation only, on the following dates: March 18th (French); April 1 (Chinese); April 22 (Australian); and April 29 (English).  Reservations must be made through the IMS front office, at 656.2073.  The cost is $8 per person.


Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Next Saturday, the Pastoral Leadership Committee meets in Des Moines.  Pray for them as they conduct credentialing interviews.


MCC Relief Sale

Donations of new and gently used items are needed for the Children’s Auction.  Suggested items are toys, books, games, sports equipment,etc.  Items can be auctioned individually or put together into themed baskets such as family game night, family movie night, arts & crafts, sports, reading, etc.  Let Jon Widmer know if you would like to donate.

We are collecting gently used books to sell at the MCC Sale.  Bestselling books include Children’s books, “Bonnet” books, recently published books, mysteries, and newer appearing books.  We welcome children’s and family DVDs and music CDs.  We are not including magazines, or VHS and cassette tapes.  If you would like to donate books or work at the Book Booth, talk to Jon Widmer


Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request: Freddy and Margrit Kipfer Barrón of MMN are using Alpha courses in Bolivia to strengthen existing Mennonite congregations and to lay the groundwork for new ones.  Pray that God will water the seeds they are planting and that people will receive Jesus’ healing and hope in their lives.


Area Announcements

The Wellman Annual Mush Fry will be Sunday, March 8th.  This old-fashioned meal of fried mush, sausage, liverwurst, tomato gravy, scrambled eggs and applesauce will be served from 11:30-1:00.  Donations will benefit the Wellman Mennonite youth.  Everyone is welcome!

Kalona MOPS will be having their annual fundraiser meal on Sunday, March 15th at noon at Kalona Mennonite Church.  The meal includes turkey, potatoes, green beans, fluff, salad and dessert.

The Spring meeting of the Crowded Closet Association will be held Monday, March 16th, 7pm at First Mennonite Church, Iowa City.  ALL volunteers and interested persons are invited to attend and learn of the latest happenings at the Closet.

Team Haiti at Bethel church will host a Taco Dinner in the fellowship hall, on Sunday, MARCH 29th at 12pm.  A free will donation will be taken.

This is an open invitation for people of all ages to sing in the Celebration Community Choir!  Our upcoming concert is at 7pm on Saturday, May 9th in IMS’s Celebration Hall.  The choir will be engaging a variety of music including selections directly influenced by the cultures and backgrounds of those who choose to sing in it.  Kalona Mennonite Church will host rehearsals on Saturdays March 28, April 4, 11, 18, 25, and May 2 at 7pm.  Please contact Nathaniel Yoder if you are interested in participating or have any questions: nathanielyoder at gmail.com and 319.325.3059.
