Lent 4: God amidst the shadows

Life is hard, and we’re sure we’re in it alone.  Yet in our supposed abandonment, God not only hears our distress but responds to it.  How can we recognize God’s presence in the shadows and see the life that is there?

 

FIRST LOOK

We invite you to greet those around you and welcome visitors to our time of worship as you enter the sanctuary.

As the prelude begins, we invite you to end your conversations with those around you and quiet your hearts and minds in preparation for the worship service.

If God is going to turn us upside down and inside out during this Lenten season, we will need to give our consent to that transformation by being oriented toward, and around, God.  The classic way Christians have done this is through prayer.  Each week during Lent the children (and adults) will be invited to participate in different ways of praying—ways of praying that invite God to focus and refocus our lives on and in Christ.
