Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Fall Fundraiser 2014 brochures are out and available.  This year the major project is the walk-in freezer and cooler at the Pavilion.  Please see the brochure in your mailboxes for details.

Restoration of camp continues due to the vandalism experienced two weeks ago.  The clean-up and repairs have progressed quickly.  We appreciate the volunteers who have come, the phone calls of support and the prayers you have said us, the camp staff and others who have felt a violation of peace.  God’s peace will prevail.  Thank you.

Nov 18th is Annual Meeting at CCCC with dinner at 6:15pm followed by stories and a short business meeting at 7pm.  This is an open invitation to all people interested in CCCC.

Iowa Mennonite School

IMS students will be performing The Curious Savage this afternoon at 3pm.  Come enjoy the production, as well as the art exhibit featuring works by 1994 graduate Helen Spielbauer and IMS art instructor Bryn Hovde.  All 6th-8th grade students are invited to stay after the performance to meet the cast, tour the stage, and enjoy some refreshments.  Call the school for more information; tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students.

The IMS Music Boosters are hosting a fund-raising event at the Iowa City Sycamore Mal location Pizza Ranch, on Monday, Nov 17th.  All are welcome to dine there from 5-8pm, with 15% of your bill going to IMS; all tips will also be given to the school.  You must, however, present a coupon for the donation to be made…which can be found at www.iowamennonite.org/music-drama/music-booster-scholarship/ -- and clicking on the “Pizza Ranch Flyer” link.  Thanks for your support of music at IMS!

The IMS PTO will be holding bake sales at two Iowa City locations during the Hawkeye home football game on Saturday, Nov 22nd.  The two locations are the Deli-Mart/BP gas station on Mormon Trek Blvd. and a house on Melrose Avenue near Kinnick Stadium.  This has been a great way to raise funds outside of the IMS community.  If you are willing to help provide baked goodies, please drop off your baked items at the IMS office by 3pm Friday, Nov 21st OR from 3-7 pm on Friday at Jane Hershberger’s home at 5320 Hwy 1 SW.  Jane will have a table in her garage for you to leave your baked items on.  We will price your items for you.  If you have questions or need more info please contact Nichole Slabach at 319.325.9987 or gracelandstables at gmail.com.  Thanks so much for your support of the faculty, staff and students at IMS through your gift of baking!

Central Plains Conference

Exciting news just out!  Ten Thousand Villages is doing a pop-up store over the holidays.  A great location next to the Iowa City Public Library on the PedMall has been acquired for the 6-week store!  Spread the word!  It will take a village of volunteers to staff this village.  To help bring fair trade products to Christmas shoppers, consider volunteering or even shopping.  Email your interest to Karla at timkarlafriesen at gmail.com or phoning 402.957.4030.

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for the Central Plains conference board and committees who will meet together at Crooked Creek Christian Camp near Washington, Iowa, next Friday and Saturday.

MEA Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Pray for Lancaster (Pa) Mennonite School high school seniors as they are considering which colleges they will submit applications to.
