Happy Birthday to:  Edie Nebel (11/16),
Tim Detweiler (11/18)

Offering for 11/9/2014: $2,357 (regular), $200 (HACAP)

Exciting news just out!  Ten Thousand Villages is doing a pop-up store over the holidays.  A great location next to the Iowa City Public Library on the PedMall has been acquired for the 6-week store!  Spread the word!  It will take a village of volunteers to staff this village.  To help bring fair trade products to Christmas shoppers, consider volunteering or even shopping.  Email your interest to Karla at timkarlafriesen at gmail.com or phoning 402.957.4030.

The Saturday performance of the Dinner Theatre is already SOLD OUT!  There is still plenty of room on Thursday or Friday.  To invite friends and family pick up a few of the brochure by the mailboxes in the foyer.

We will be collecting canned goods in the foyer for HACAP from now until Thanksgiving.

If you would like to be a part of the church prayer chain email list, sign-up in the fellowship hall (EVEN IF YOU ARE ALREADY RECEIVING EMAILS).  Amanda would like a definitive list of everyone interested in receiving prayer requests and announcements from and about the church.

The Church Calendar is now on the church’s website (washingtonmennonitechurch.blogspot.com).  Click on the words “Church Calendar” above the pictures of Grant and Amanda and you can view the calendar.  You can view any month and click any event for more details.

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Tuesday, Nov 18th is the Annual Meeting at Crooked Creek Retreat Lodge.  A turkey tenderloin dinner will be served at 6:15pm followed by stories and a short business meeting at 7pm.  This is an open invitation to all people interested in Crooked Creek Christian Camp.

Iowa Mennonite School

The IMS Music Boosters are hosting a fund-raising event at the Iowa City Sycamore Mal location Pizza Ranch, on Monday, Nov 17th.  All are welcome to dine there from 5-8pm, with 15% of your bill going to IMS; all tips will also be given to the school.  You must, however, present a coupon for the donation to be made…which can be found at www.iowamennonite.org/music-drama/music-booster-scholarship/ -- and clicking on the “Pizza Ranch Flyer” link.  Thanks for your support of music at IMS!

The IMS PTO will be holding bake sales at two Iowa City locations during the Hawkeye home football game on Saturday, Nov 22nd.  The two locations are the Deli-Mart/BP gas station on Mormon Trek Blvd. and a house on Melrose Avenue near Kinnick Stadium.  This has been a great way to raise funds outside of the IMS community.  If you are willing to help provide baked goodies, please drop off your baked items at the IMS office by 3pm Friday, Nov 21st OR from 3-7 pm on Friday at Jane Hershberger’s home at 5320 Hwy 1 SW.  Jane will have a table in her garage for you to leave your baked items on.  We will price your items for you.  If you have questions or need more info please contact Nichole Slabach at 319.325.9987 or gracelandstables at gmail.com.  Thanks so much for your support of the faculty, staff and students at IMS through your gift of baking!

Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  The Ecuador Partnership convenes in Quito this weekend for a weeklong meeting.  Pray for God’s guidance and blessing as representatives of Central Plains, Mennonite Churches of Ecuador (ICAME), Colombia Mennonite Church (IMCOL) and Mennonite Mission Network meet.

Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request: Praise God for two recent events that fostered dialogue and nurtured unity among Israeli Christian Arabs and Messianic Jews.  Pray for the MMN personnel who have ministered long-term in the Middle East breaking down barriers that divide people.

MEA Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Lezha (Albania) Academic Center is in need of a social studies and music teacher.  Pray that the right persons will step up into these roles and give thanks for the many teachers who have committed to serving and teaching at Lezha this year.
