We
are collecting gently used books to sell at the MCC Sale. Best selling books include children’s books, ‘bonnet’
books, recently published books, mysteries, and newer appearing books. We welcome children’s and family DVDs and music
CDs. We are not including magazines, or
VHS, or cassette tapes. Your MCC sale
rep will put out a collection box for your donations or books can be brought
directly to the Book Booth at the south end of Building B on Thursday afternoon
or by noon on Friday of the Sale.
Thank-you for your contributions.
The
Iowa MCC Relief Sale is asking for donations of beef and pigs, or monetary
donations to cover the cost of processing, for this year’s
sale. If you’re interested in supporting
the work of MCC in this way, please contact Bryan Amstutz at 641.675.3423 or

MCUSA
Announcement: In
response to calls from across the church, Ervin Stutzman, executive director of
MCUSA, and Sara Wenger Shenk, president of AMBS, convened a discernment group
to continue healing and reconciliation work int eh wake of John Howard Yoder’s
abuse of women and of ongoing questions about how the church responded to
it. They said in an earlier release, “We
hope this work will lead to churchwide resolve to enter into lament, repentance
and restoration for victims of sexual abuse by other perpetrators as well.” Read more about the work of the discernment group,
find answers to FAQs, and access a list of resources to help prevent sexual
abuse in your own congregations at www.mennoniteusa.org/executive-board/transformative-peacemaking/a-way-forward/.
Mennonite
Mission Network Prayer Request: At this point in their year of
service, the novelty of international immersion has typically worn off for MMN’s
Radical Journey participants. Pray that
as these young adults become more at ease in their host communities, they will
see how Jesus is forming a global church across cultures.
Prayers for faith and learning: Join with
the AMBS community as we pray for MCUSA – in praise to Christ who makes unity
possible, in lament and confession, in intercession for leaders and in petition
for the way forward.
