Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Call out to medically trained personnel:  Camp is looking for nurses to assist our week long camps.  If interested in spending a week outdoors with adorable energized campers, please contact the camp.

Iowa Mennonite School

IMS will welcome Tim Lehman as the nest principal/chief administrator beginning with the 2014-2015 school year.  Tim is currently the assistant principal at Bethany Christian School in Goshen, IN, where he has served on staff for 12 years (10 as a teacher and most recently as administrator).  Tim and Jan are the parents of two college-aged students, and Tim will begin his duties on July 1.  We welcome Tim and Jan to the IMS community, and thank the Search Committee for their service!

Tickets are still available for the Steel Wheels performance in IMS’ Celebration Hall on Tuesday, April 29, at 7pm.  Please contact the school to reserve your seats!

The IMS music department will present their Spring Concert at 3pm on Sunday, May 4, in Celebration Hall.  Under the direction of Josh Tyson, the Touring Choir, Chorale, Chamber Singers and Symphonic Band will perform; all are invited to attend.


Central Plains Conference

The Youth Escape 2014 speaker will be Glen Guyton, former youth minister at Calvary Community Church in Hampton, Virginia, and currently staff for MCUSA.  Glen is a dynamic speaker with a sly sense of humor who loves God and enjoys relating to youth.  Find and ‘like’ Youth Escape 2014 on Facebook for more info.  Register by May 23 and pay only $95!.

MCUSA Announcement:  Multi-Staff Congregation Leader’s Summit: Nov 10-12, 2014 at Laurelville Mennonite Church Center, Mt Pleasant, PA.  Large congregations with multiple pastoral staff represent both opportunities and challenges in our Anabaptist understanding of church life.  Join us to learn together how to navigate this journey.  This event is planned by MCUSA and Everence to resource and network congregations. 


Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:  Adam and Jeanette Strode of MMN are beginning full-time language and culture study in preparation for an assignment with a community-based ministry in Bangkok, Thailand.  Pray for them in this time of transition and intense learning as they build relationships.

Prayers for faith and learning:  Today has been designated Instituto Bíblico Anabautista (IBA) giving Sunday.  Pray that congregations will give generously to support this vital program which is training Hispanic church leaders throughout the U.S.


Area Events

On Sunday, April 27, from 2-4pm, join Bob and Kristie Black, Paul and Julie Roberts, and other area fine bluegrass musicians as they lead a community hymn sing at the lovely, old St Michael’s Church, Holbrook.  Hymn sheets are provided and all who attend have the opportunity to choose their favorites.  Everyone is welcome to this informal, come-and-go gathering.  Free admission.  Sponsored by the Friends of Old St Michael’s.  For further information contact Stephen Hanson at 319.396.8674.
