Our Church

Happy Birthday to: Lynn Miller (2/14)

Offering for 2/2/2014: $1,983.00 (regular)

Tanner Leyden and Jacayla Litwiller are selling tickets for the IMS Senior Class Chili Supper which will be held at IMS on Saturday evening Feb 15, from 4:30-7:30pm.  Tickets are selling at $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 years old and children 4 years old and under are free.  Tanner and Jacayla will be available after the worship service with tickets or they may be contacting you by phone.  They will appreciate your support.

Next week, Sunday, February 16, two guest artists will present several piano duets for prelude and offering.  Come to church early next week to listen to our guests on the piano.

The Sunday morning Church services are now being recorded!  If you would like to listen to a service you may have missed, see the table in the library and sign-out a CD.  If you would like a copy to keep, just place a blank CD or USB drive with your name and the date of the recording you want in the mailbox labeled “Recording Requests.”





Iowa Mennonite School

IMS’ Chamber Singers will once again provide Singing Valentines to the community on Friday, Feb 14.  The 6-member select group of singers will sing 2 songs and present 6 cupcakes for $35…or “several” songs and 6 cupcakes in a group setting, for $60.  The singers include seniors Alaina Beatty, Shay Durflinger, and Eleya Raim; and juniors Kaylin Brokaw, Anne Buckwalter, and Hannah Miller.  Please call the school office to reserve a time.


Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for the Mennonite Church USA Executive Board meeting in Harrisonburg, Virginia, February 12-15.


Mennonite Agencies

All our invited, Saturday, March 1 at 10am to Hope Mennonite Church 868 N Maize Rd, Wichita, KS to join the MCC Central States staff and board of directors for: Building Beloved Community: MCC Central States and the Work of Decolonization.  Join us as we reflect on the work of decolonization and racial justice as crucial aspects of MCC’s commitment to peace and the building of beloved community.  Lunch will follow to allow for further conversation.  Please RSVP for this event to Tina Schrag at tinaschrag at mcc.org or by calling 316.283.2720 by Monday, Feb 24.


Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:  Brian and Noelia Fox of MMN praise God for the first three months of their business venture, an English-teaching academy in Spain.  Pray that God would bless this endeavor to support the Fox family, and that it would provide opportunities to witness to the good news of Jesus Christ.

Prayers for faith and learning:  Pray for Allison McFarland, Bethel College professor of business, as she works as a volunteer during the Winter Olympics in Socchi, Russia.


Areas Events

Do you have furniture you would be willing to donate to the Crowded Closet, but can’t drop it off?  The Crowded Closet truck will be in the Kalona/Wellman area Saturday, February the 15th doing furniture pick-ups for FREE!  Support the work of MCC through your donation of gently used furniture.  Contact Dan at the Crowded Closet at 3198.337.5924 or crowdedcloset1 at gmail.com to schedule a pick-up.

Better Together Youth Sunday!  All 9th to 12th graders and youth group sponsors are invited to come to Crooked Creek Christian Camp on Sunday, March 2.  We will begin at 9:30am for worship, food, fellowship, games, prizes and more, ending at 3pm.  We will focus on lessons that we can learn from 1 Corinthians 12.  Josh Lundberg will be our speaker and our worship team will be youth from IMS.  The cost is only $15 per person.  Please RSVP with approximate numbers from your church to Tamara at 319.217.2456 or tamarajg at gmail.com by Feb 20.
