Has your spiritual life been impacted by your study of the Bible or another Christian book?  Has it been so important to you that you would like to share that with the congregation through a Sunday School class beginning in March?  If so, please contact Mary Lou Farmer, Nurture Ministry of WMC, as soon as possible!  319.653.2547 or mlfarmer at iowatelecom.net.  Thanks!

Calling all worship leaders, all those who have ever been asked to lead worship, all those who have wondered what exactly a worship leader is supposed to do, and all those who have ever had even the slightest inclination to lead worship!  Mark your calendars for Sunday, January 19!  We’re planning a potluck lunch and short presentation on the nuts and bolts or worship leading.  What is the job of a worship leader?  How should the worship leader prepare?  How do we lead the congregation into worship?  Come to learn the exciting answers to these and other important questions!  Please let Amanda know if you would like to participate.

Get out your black & gold and save the date, because Washington Mennonite is going to a U of I Women’s basketball game on Jan 25th!  We are planning on eating together at a TBD location in Iowa City around 5pm, so please meet at the church by 4pm is you’re interested in carpooling.  The game starts at 6pm at Carver Hawkeye.  Depending on our group size, we can get a reduced rate for tickets so please let Myron or Fun Megan know if you’re interested in attending.       – The Frivolity Committee

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

Don’t forget “Coins for Camp” which will go towards craft supplies to be used for iPicks at summer camp.  Thank you for helping us replenish our craft closet.

There will be a “Marriage Enrichment Weekend” facilitated by Tim and Carol Detweiler at Shepherd’s Inn on March 14-16 with a cost of $260.  For more information see the poster on the bulletin board.

Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Tim Detweiler, David Boshart and Shana Peachey Boshart will be participating in pastor’s week events at one or both Mennonite seminaries this month.  Pray that they would have good conversations with prospective pastors, professional enrichment and travel safety.

Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:  Mark and Mary Hurst of MMN are grieving many losses.  Mark’s father died Thanksgiving morning, and a special Anabaptist Association of Australia and New Zealand colleague died a few weeks later.  Yet another great sorrow is the loss of the 1643 Community house.  Pray for comfort and hope for Mark and Mary.

Prayers for faith and learning:  Pray for Hesston College faculty member Tony Brown as he presents I go On Singing: A Tribute to Paul Robeson on Monday in Goshen, IN, for Hesston College and Goshen College alumni as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday activities.
