The Bike Ride/Progressive Supper is set for Sunday evening, Sept 29th. You do not have to ride bike. You may ride in your car! We will be at Grant and Edie’s at 5:30 and
will wander on over to Megan/Amanda/Andrea’s for dessert.
Crooked Creek Christian Camp
Sing’n S’mores is tonight at 5:30pm outside the Pavilion. Josh Tyson will be leading our hymn sing, Tim
Friesen (New Administrator) will share about his journey to camp and there will
be a new twist on making the old classic s’more. Bring your blue hymnal worship book, a lawn
chair, and friends. This event is open
to anyone and doesn’t require an RSVP. Just show up!
New Program at CCCC! Are you a woman looking for a place to connect, walk, share, reflect,
practice spiritual disciplines, fellowship, retreat and pray? Then come join us for Women Walking: Experience the Journey. This group is open to all women who would
like a space to walk in our beautiful outdoor setting, have some guided times
of reflection and discussion, practice some spiritual disciplines and journey
with other women. This group is not intended
to be one more thing on your to-do list so there is no commitment
required. Come to camp and exercise your
body and spirit! Our first session will
be Wed, Sept 18 from 10am-12pm. We will
meet at the Activity Center and discuss program logistics and enjoy a beautiful

you don’t RSVP, feel free to show up anyway.
Iowa Mennonite School
Don’t
miss an outstanding performance on the stage of IMS’ Celebration Hall, on Sat,
Sept 14th. Renowned singer Tony Brown will perform the
works of noted civil rights activist Paul Robeson (1898-1976); Robeson was
an actor and singer. Tickets are

Central Plains Conference
All Central Plains women are invited
to attend a retreat at Swan Lake
Christian Camp at Viborg, S Dakota, Sept 21 & 22. The theme is “Power Made Perfect: How’s a
Woman to live?” with speakers Elisabeth Harder Schrock and Charlotte Loewen,
both of Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
Elisabeth and her husband recently completed a four-year MCC term
working with Old Colony Mennonites and indigenous communities in Bolivia. Charlotte has a private practice as a
counselor. The cost is $75. Please preregister by Sept 14th to

The Sower Prayer Request: Pray for
Adam Nussbaum, who was licensed towards ordination on August 18th. He
is pastor of Shalom Mennonite Church, a church plant in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Pray
that God will bless Adam and Shalom with a fruitful ministry.

People & New Hours - Mennonite Central Committee Central
States has several new people to introduce to you! Michelle Armster is our new
Transitional Executive Director. Michelle currently lives in Lancaster, PA and
is Associate Pastor of Community Life at Blossom Hill Mennonite Church. She
will move to Kansas and work from the North Newton office. Also in North
Newton, Anna Yoder is Donor Relations Coordinator, Megan Upton-Tyner is Office
Manager and Dan Stucky is Warehouse Coordinator (he works daily from 1-5pm).
New Hours! The North Newton MCC Center is once again open Monday-Friday,
8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm. Please stop by and see us 121 E. 30th in North Newton or

Are Invited to Participate in the Loss of Turtle Island on
Friday, September 27 at Shalom Mennonite Church in Newton, KS at 10am. The
Loss of Turtle Island exercise provides an opportunity to interactively explore
the historic relationship between Europeans, specifically Mennonites in the
Central States region, and the Indigenous nations who inhabit the land we now
call the United States of America. The exercise uses blankets to represent the
lands of what is now known as the United States, and the distinct cultures and
nations which live on those lands to this day. Following the exercise all who
attend are welcome to stay for lunch with MCC Central States board and staff to
learn more about MCC's current work. Shalom Mennonite Church is located at 800

Mennonite Mission
Network Prayer Request: Participants
with Mennonite Voluntary Service, a MMN program, are beginning their service assignments
this month. Pray that as they learn to
live in community in a new city, their relationships with Jesus and the church
will grow deeper.
Prayers for faith and learning: Thank God
for the gifts of volunteers, board members and staff of Bethel College’s
Kauffman Museum and pray for the museum’s annual meeting this afternoon.
Area Churches
Kenton & Kidron Miller have been in training over the past year, preparing
to church plant in Berlin, Germany through an organization of the Mennonite
Brethren church. They have committed to
the ministry in Berlin for 10 years, and will be sent out to join their team as
soon as God provides the budgeted funds for their first 3 year term. You can be a part of sending them out! Come to the sale of their ‘like new’
household items on Saturday, September 14, from 10a, to 5pm at The Water
Shop: 4995 Waterway Ln SW, Kalona. All
proceeds go towards the ministry of MB Mission.
