Power Offering for the MCC Sale: Any change you can give will go towards aid
for drought stricken Zambia by building dams that will help provide safe
drinking water. $15 pays for one bag of
cement and each dam requires 30 bags.
Baked
Goods for the MCC Sale: If you would like to bake pies, rolls,
cookies, or coffeecake pick up the pans and labels in the library area. List all ingredients you use on the tags
provided. Pies are rolls are needed the
most because they sell out quickly. See
Roger or Joanne Roth for more information.
Iowa Mennonite School
Senior Recitals:
On May 6, at 2 pm Amanda Bartel will
be giving her senior recital. Amanda will play piano and violin, as well as
share her vocal talents. On May 12, at
3:30 pm Hoi Ting Davidson will
present her senior recital. Ting will
play the violin and piano, and enlist the help of the Chamber Singers. Both will
be given in Celebration Hall and
include receptions afterward.
Mark your calendars for Saturday,
June 9, when Iowa Mennonite School will
host an evening of music! The
music will be provided by local churches: solos, groups, ensembles,
choirs, etc. We're asking each church to provide one or more
"entries", and to contact Larry Swartzendruber at IMS to register
your group. It is NOT a contest, but rather an evening of musical
enjoyment. Of course all are invited
to attend the event; it will include
a fund-raising offering in support of IMS' Annual Fund.
Please check the poster on the bulletin
board for more specific information.
Crooked Creek Christian Camp
TODAY is the 5K Fun Run/Walk for Crooked Creek Christian
Camp. If you did not register, but would like to participate, come to the
Activities Center by 4pm to register. If you did register, please arrive early
enough to get signed in, warmed up and at the starting line by 4:30!
In case of rain, we will still have the race but also offer the Activities
Center for those who would rather do something active inside. If severe weather
arises, we will move to the Activities Center.
Campers, don't forget to sign up for summer camp at Crooked Creek! Early
Bird Registration for campers closes this Thursday, May
10, so if you want to save a little money, sign up soon!
Mennonite Agencies
Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request: Today, the DOOR program in Denver is hosting a Cinco de Mayo fundraiser.
Pray that the transforming love of Jesus may be shared with the people
who will come together to fellowship, eat, make new connections, and support
the work of DOOR, a MMN service program.
The Sower Prayer Request: The weekend of Aug 3-5, youth
from all over Central Plains will gather at Youth Escape 2012 to focus on their
relationship with God. Pray for good
participation, for our speakers and planners, and for each youth and sponsor
who will attend, that all will be drawn closer to a life-giving friendship with
God.
Are you a young
adult who wants to serve God next year? Do you know any young adults like this? Mennonite
Mission Network service programs are in need of young people who want to join
communities and congregations in living Jesus’ call to serve! Take a look
at Service Adventure, Radical Journey, MVS or DOOR: Dwell and find a way to use
your gifts to build God’s kingdom.
Visit Service.MennoniteMission.net for program info or an application.
