Abiding
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but
the Spirit intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26
How cool is it that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with
“groans that words cannot express?” When
we’re unable to say what we need, when our hurt or anguish is so deep that
we’re limited by language, the Holy Spirit is there to groan for us, knowing
exactly what we need, even when we don’t.
What an amazing God we serve!

Washington Mennonite Church is planning a “Fall Food Preservation Adventure” for the
purpose of supporting “Missio Dei Church”, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in
preserving food to be used in their hospitality ministry to guests who come to
“Missio Dei” for food and a place to live.
Please consider this your invitation to participate in this adventure
and the opportunity to become better acquainted with our brothers and sisters
in Christ at “Missio Dei Church”. We
plan to leave on Friday afternoon, October 7th (exact time yet to be
determined) and return on Sunday, October 9th. We are in need of two seven quart pressure
cookers, in excellent working condition.
If you have a pressure cooker and/or quart canning jars that you no
longer use and would like to donate, they will be put to a very good use by
“Missio Dei”. Other donations which
would be appreciated include: apples, pears, sweet potatoes, carrots, potatoes,
onions, stew meat and jar lids. For more
details, please contact: Barb and John Ramsey, at 319.653.3785 or jbramsey61

Cesar and Patricia just arrived back in Quito on August 31st.
They were greeted by a number of their church members in the airport who
were very glad to see them. Cesar and
Patricia are beginning another 3-year term in Ecuador. Please pray for their transition with the
church in Quito. They will be acting
more as directors of the mission in Ecuador and less as pastors in the Quito
church since others have stepped up to take more leadership in their
absence. Developing local leadership is
a positive direction for the churches in Ecuador.
Mission Network prayer request: A
country in Asia where Mennonite Mission Network personnel minister, is in the
process of passing a law that could make it very difficult to share the good
news of Jesus. Pray for wisdom, courage
and protection for Christians in this country as they find creative new ways to
pass on their faith.
