Sunday morning prayer
time at WMC – Come to church at 8:50 AM each Sunday morning for a time of
prayer for any concerns you may have.
Everyone is welcome.
Preaching schedule
for summer:
July 31: Grant, Pharisee & Tax Collector
August
7: Amanda Beachy’s installation service
with potluck following
at noon
This summer we
are looking at the parables of Jesus as our theme. The children will be talking about the same
parable in their Sunday school class.
Parables were used by Jesus to invite his listeners to think more deeply
about living God’s ways for all ages.
This year’s Vacation
Bible School will be held July 25-28 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Crooked Creek
Christian Camp. The theme is Taste and
See: God is Good! Each evening children
will hear stories from the Bible that connect food and faith, watch a drama and
do activities and games that relate to our theme. Please remember Bible School
in your prayers.
We need 10-12 volunteers at Camp Reece on July 27 to relieve counselors for one hour beginning at
6:15. It involves helping the campers
with craft work. We also need 10-12
dozen cookies. Sign up in the foyer if
you can help or make cookies.
On August 7 we are
having an installation service for Amanda Beachy. She will begin her ministry at WMC on August
2. For the noon meal we are having a
potluck to welcome Amanda to Washington.
Myron Graber has been
affirmed to serve as elder at Washington Mennonite. We thank Myron for his willingness to serve
the church in this way. Please remember
to keep the elders and pastors in your prayers.
There will be a fund raiser for Tina Watson Wiklund on August 13 in Davenport.
A flyer is on the bulletin board in the foyer.
Thank you notes have been received from our visitors from the Ecuador Mennonite
Church a few weeks ago
and have been posted on the bulletin board.
These visits were very meaningful to Darwin and Mirian Villacis (elders
at Quito Mennonite
Church), Raul and Ivette Escobar (leaders
at Riobamba Mennonite
Church), and Josua Montoya, a young
person from the Riobamba
church. Be sure to read their
expressions of thanks.

Mennonite Mission Prayer Request: On the last
Saturday of each month, Quito (Ecuador) Mennonite Church

Mission Network partners help kids learn about Jesus’ example of peace. Pray that God’s peace may grow in the lives
of each participant.
Mennonite Central Committee is appealing for donations to support its response to the
drought and food crisis in East Africa that
has left about 11 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. Please consider a gift to help fund initial
efforts in Ethiopia and Kenya to
provide supplemental food for at-risk groups, and to support food-for-work
projects. To donate, visit mcc.org or
send checks with “East Africa Drought Response” in the memo line to MCC Central
States, PO Box 235, North Newton, KS 67117. We encourage you also to pray for people in
the region.
