"Thank you for the gift of flowers and the lantern with a candle you sent in Mother's memory.  We will miss her very much but believe she is with a loving Savior."  - The Family of Ruth Miller

All Washington Mennonites are invited to a drive-through welcome for Nick, Erika, Eli, Luke and Jace from 4-6 on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in the church parking lot. The family will be on the East side of the church. Drive in the west entrance and circle behind the church. Open your car windows to visit and get to know them a bit. We’d also like to shower them with a tangible love gift. Please bring a gift card to a grocery store or restaurant so that they can use these in the coming days. As you leave by the East side of the church, you will be given refreshments by one of the elders. We can’t have a party without food!

The Outreach and Service Committee of Washington Mennonite Church (Roger Farmer, Carol Detweiler, Tim Widmer, Mike Bates) is excited to announce that the Everence Matching Fund has been completed with $2500 in congregational donations.  Everence will match this amount for eligible expenses so that we have $5000 for distribution to persons in need.  The Outreach and Service Committee asks each person in the congregation to suggest names of persons, families, or organizations that might need this assistance.  Check with persons that you know and trust for any suggestions.  Please send a brief description of each suggestion to any member of the Outreach and Service Committee:  Roger Farmer, Carol Detweiler, Tim Widmer, or Mike Bates.

Even though we are unable to meet as a congregation right now, expenses of the church continue. Please send your donations directly to Dick See, 705 Perdock Court, Washington, IA. Thanks for your support.

Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request: Mennonite Mission Network requests prayer for Meserete Kristos College which trains leaders for the Anabaptist churches in Ethiopia. Pray that the faculty, staff and students will shine with God’s light in their communities as the college has had to send students home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

MC USA Announcement: #MennoSnapshots  “I’m not sure that I’ve ever felt more on the edge of potential blasphemy!” said Melanie A. Howard, about the weight of responsibility she felt when choosing, translating and adapting biblical texts for Voices Together, the new Mennonite hymnal that will be published this fall.
