Area Announcements

▪ If you have a loved one suffering from dementia, consider attending Pleasantview Home’s Coffee & Conversation for Caregivers of Those with Dementia. This support group meets in Pleasantview’s Friendship Center on the first Friday of each month at 10:00 am. The next gathering will be March 6, with Pleasantview staff facilitating the discussion. Please call 319-656-2421 or email Ann Drobot at ADrobot@pvhome.org for further information.

▪ J-POG (Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you to view Hebron, a documentary by Palestinian filmmaker Yousef Natsheh.  Palestinians have lived in their homeland for centuries, but we seldom hear the stories of ordinary people struggling with olive harvest, access to education, and home demolitions. Join us at 7 pm on FRIDAY, Mar 13, 2020, at Hillcrest Academy, 1421 540th St SW, Kalona, IA to view the film with discussion following.  For more information, please contact Roger Farmer at 319-653-2547 or Jane Yoder-Short at wilmajane17@gmail.com.

Everyone is invited to come hear the Bethel College Concert Choir, under the direction of Bill Eash, on Thursday, March 26 at 7 PM at West Union Mennonite Church. We are also looking for more people to host the choir students. This would involve taking the students home with you after the concert on Thursday evening, providing them breakfast Friday morning and then returning them to Hillcrest Academy by 8 AM. If you are willing to be an overnight host, please contact Gretchen Yoder at wunion@netins.net.

On Sat. April 25th, a live simulcast of Priscilla Shirer will be held at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Priscilla, daughter of pastor Tony Evans, is an author, a popular Bible Study leader and conference speaker. Plan to join us at this FREE event called "Going Beyond" and be inspired and challenged in your walk with Jesus. Talk to Connie Knepp (319-331-2547) or Dorothy Miller (319-325-9357) if you have any questions.
