week from Monday, February 10 through Friday, February 14. If you would
like to help deliver Meals on Wheels in the future, please contact a member of
the Outreach and Service Committee (Roger Farmer, Tim Widmer, Carol Detweiler,
Mike Bates).
Crooked Creek Christian Camp
▪ 2020 marks Crooked
Creek Christian Camp’s 40th anniversary!
We are so excited to celebrate 40 years of God’s faithfulness. Be on the
lookout for ways we will be celebrating this year. We thank you for your
continued support and prayers for Crooked Creek!
Hillcrest Academy
▪ Singing Valentines | The Hillcrest Academy Acapella groups will be
performing Singing Valentines again this year on Fri, Feb 14. Each
Singing Valentine will also include a small (4 piece) box of Kalona Chocolates.
The price is $35. The groups are directed by Mike Wagner. Call the school
office (319-656-2073) by Mon, Feb 10 to schedule.
▪ The Chili Supper | The
annual Chili Supper is hosted by the senior class and has been a
tradition since 1960. The senior class is currently selling tickets and
tickets will also be available at the door. Tickets are $10 adults, $9 seniors
65+, $5 kids 4-12, and free kids 0-3. Plan to join us on Sat, Feb 15 in
Hillcrest Union serving from 4:30-7:00 PM. And in addition to the
traditional (and vegetarian) chili, we will again be serving the Mexican
soup, Pozole [po'sole]
with all the fixings. Also like last year, in Celebration Hall we will be doing
our modern spin on the Audubon Society films you may remember from
years ago.
Central Plains
Conference

Plains Mennonite Conference’s Annual Meeting! Send your nomination to Peace

▪ The Outreach & Service Committee is presenting a
webinar on racism hosted
by Drick Boyd, Professor of Social Transformation at Eastern University in
Pennsylvania. The three-part series will be
held at 7:30 pm
on successive Tuesdays
in February, the 11th, 18th, and 25th.
Each session will consist of a 45-minute presentation and some time for
discussion and questions. We encourage wide participation on this important
issue.
▪ This
is your last chance to get registered for a children’s virtual read-aloud party
sponsored by Central Plains Mennonite Conference. On February 12 at
6:30pm, elementary-aged children are invited to log on to hear Shalom Readers
books read aloud by adults from around the conference. See our website for more

▪ Central Plains Prayer Request: Pray for those who volunteer as leaders in our conference serving on various committees and boards such as the Conference Board, the Christian Formation Committee, Pastoral Leadership Committee, Outreach and Service Committee, Stewardship Task Force, Shalom Readers Club, Peace and Justice task group and all other conference volunteers. Volunteer Exchange Program (IVEP) host! IVEP is a yearlong volunteer work
and cultural exchange opportunity of MCC for young adults. Our local IVEPer is

Adventure is looking for a leader for the Jackson, Mississippi unit. Unit
leaders are 24 years old or older, and live in community with 3-5 young adults,

Mennonite Central Committee Central States board of directors will meet on
February 28 and 29 at MCC in North Newton. A brief annual meeting will take place at
2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, you are welcome to attend.
▪ Mennonite
Mission Network Prayer Request: Mennonite Mission Network requests prayer for the Anabaptist youth in
Burgos, Spain, as they prepare for their annual Origen
conference. Over the years, many lives have been transformed through the Origen experience. Pray that God
would use this year’s event to touch lives needing healing and hope.

of its "Climate Justice: Learn, Pray, Join" Initiative, Mennonite
Church USA is providing a free webinar on “Caring for climate: Beyond denial and despair”
on Feb. 27 at 7:30-9:00 p.m.

congregational ministries can help people navigate the myriad emotions they
experience related to climate and how they can move from inaction to hopeful

(Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you to hear Matt Russell, Executive
Director of Iowa Interfaith Power and Light, address the topic
"Embracing Abundance in a World of Scarcity." Matt will
explore how Christian faith calls us to embrace the abundance of God's creation
in managing our farms, using renewable energy, and finding solutions to climate

Moore Bible Study: We are excited to begin another Women's Bible Study
session at Upper Deer Creek Church. We will be joining Beth Moore in her study
of 2 Timothy entitled "Entrusted". This 6 session study will meet on
Monday nights, 6-8pm, beginning February 24th at UDC. Please register on
