Iowa Mennonite School
▪ The Chili Supper | The
annual Chili Supper is hosted by the senior class and has been an
IMS tradition since 1960. The senior class is currently selling tickets,
but tickets will also be available at the door. Tickets are $10 Adults, $9
Seniors 65+, $5 Kids 4-12, and Free Kids 0-3. Plan to join us on Saturday,
February 9 in Hillcrest Union
serving from 4:30-7:00PM. And in addition to the traditional chili, we
will again be serving the Mexican soup, Pozole [po'sole]
with all the fixings.
Also like last year, in Celebration Hall we will being doing our modern
spin on the Audubon Society films you may remember from years ago.
▪ Singing Valentines | The
IMS Acapella groups will be delivering Singing Valentines on February 14. For
$35 you receive 2 songs & small box of Kalona Chocolates and for $60 you
receive 4 songs and 2 boxes of chocolates. Call the school office 319-656-2073
to schedule and purchase a Singing Valentine.
▪ Visit Day | February 18 is the next Visit Day for 8th graders and transfer
students. Join a host student in classes, chapel, and lunch. Parents can come
at the beginning of the day to meet with the Administrative Team to get

Conference
▪ Service Opportunity – The Everything Beautiful Thrift Store in Lame Deer, Montana is
looking for volunteer, sheet rock hangers. This would be to install sheet
rock in the work/sorting room their new building. This could be anytime
between the end of January and the 15th of March. Lodging and

▪ Central Plains Mennonite Conference
Prayer Request: Pray for those who volunteer as
leaders in our conference serving on various committees and boards such as the
Conference Board, the Christian Formation Committee, Pastoral Leadership
Committee, Outreach and Service Committee, Stewardship Task Force, Shalom
Readers Club, and all other conference volunteers. We give thanks for those who
are willing to serve!

▪ Everence to hold Medicare workshop – Everence® will host its popular workshop, Make Medicare an easy step, on Monday, Feb. 11 (10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.) Attendees will learn about the various Medicare plans and
what they cover, plans that supplement Medicare, and enrollment details and
deadlines. The workshop will be presented by Everence staff and will be held at
the Kalona Public Library, Velma Skola Room,

Annual Meeting on February

▪ Mennonite
Mission Network Prayer Request: Mary
Raber requests prayer for pastors and their wives living in Ukraine’s
militarized zone. Mennonite Mission Network is helping sponsor a retreat for
them this month. Pray for safety in travel and that church leaders would be
physically and spiritually renewed for continued ministry in difficult conditions.

personal care assist, or assist with meal preps aids folks in maintaining their

▪ IMS Potato Bar Fundraiser: at Upper Deer Creek Church on February 3rd - (Super Bowl
Sunday) - Serving from 11:30am-1:00pm. On the menu - Baked Potatoes - with
your choice of toppings, a Tossed
Salad, and a variety of Dessert options. Bring your family and enjoy!
▪ Kalona MOPS will be holding their annual
Lunch Fundraiser on Sunday,
February 17, 2019 at the Kalona
Mennonite Church from 11:30am to 1pm. We will be serving smoked pork loin,
party potatoes, strawberry lettuce salad, green beans, fluff, and better than
anything cake. The cost is a free will offering and all proceeds go to benefit
the Kalona MOPS organization. Carry out is available.
▪ RightNow Ministries is again holding a Work
as Worship simulcast at
Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. It features some of the best known Christian businesspersons in the
US talking about the integration of their work and worship. Tickets are
$30 and includes registration, break and lunch. It begins at 7:30 am and
ends at 2:30 pm. Come to enjoy the inspiring messages and bring your
