▪ Amanda would like to offer a 3-week
Lenten study. This will
take place on three Thursday evenings in March (March 8,
15 and 22). If you would like to
participate in a study, please contact Amanda and indicate your preference
for either Praying the News or Being in Community as a study
topic.

cut blocks for comforters on
Wed., Feb. 21 starting at 10 a.m. Lunch will be a potluck.
Iowa Mennonite School
▪ Senior Recital | TODAY at 3:00PM Emma Beachy will
present her senior recital in Celebration Hall at IMS, performing a variety of
classical and contemporary selections on piano, flute, and voice. The
public is invited to join Emma for
an afternoon of music and thank you for your support of the fine arts at IMS!
▪ Visit Day | 8th grade and transfer students are invited to visit IMS
for a day on Monday February
19. This visit will have a different format than the fall visit
days so feel free to come again. Parents are invited to a Q&A at the start
of the day with the administrative team. Students are invited from 8:10AM-3:15PM to tour facilities, visit classes with a host
student, eat lunch, meet faculty, other future students, and hear from a panel
of current students. Register to attend at www.iowamennonite.org/visit.
▪ IMS Cafe | This
years Culinary Arts Class restaurant dates are February
28 and March 14, 28. The restaurant opens at 8:30AM each day and the menu will include various entrees,
sides, and desserts. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the
school office 319-656-2073. Cost per person is $8.
▪ Touring
Choir | The IMS Touring Choir has begun its local tour. The next
concert is on Sunday February 25 at 9:30AM at Washington Mennonite
Church. The public is welcome at all events.
Central Plains Conference
▪ It’s not
too late to start Lent family worship. Just go to www.anabaptistfaithformation.org and download “Between Me
& You,” a free guide for family worship from now through Easter, April 1.
▪ Central Plains Mennonite
Conference Prayer Request: Pray for students, faculty and staff at
Freeman Academy and Iowa Mennonite School.
Mennonite Agencies
▪ Everyone is invited to join the board and
staff of Mennonite Central Committee Central States for our annual meeting
on Friday, February 23
at 10:30am at the MCC Center (121 E. 30th, North Newton, KS
67117).
▪ MDS Iowa Annual Meeting will be held on March 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the
Lower Deer Creek Church. Also, we need volunteers/nominees to serve on
the Iowa MDS Unit Board. (4 year term).
▪ Mennonite Mission Network Prayer
Request: Mark and Mary Hurst
of Mennonite Mission Network serve as resource people and pastors with the
Anabaptist Association of Australia and New Zealand. Pray for them as they
build relationships with people seeking God and a way of living that centers on
Jesus’ justice and shalom.

Joins us for N.O.W. (Night Of Worship) on Sunday, February 25, 5:30 pm at Lower
Deer Creek Mennonite Church. This is a casual, relaxed time of praise, worship
and testimony and all are welcome!

Kalona MOPS Meal, Feb 25th – Join Us for a delicious lunch
featuring smoked pork loin, party potatoes, strawberry lettuce salad, green
beans, fluff, and better than anything cake on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the
Kalona Mennonite Church from 11:30-1:00pm.
There will be a free will offering and carry out is available.

You are invited to an informational meeting/training
for Safe Families for Children, a volunteer organization whose mission
is "to keep children safe and families intact." The
training will be held at Lower Deer Creek on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 9 - Noon. Safe
Families volunteers temporarily host children and provide a network of support
to families in crisis while they get back on their feet through the service of
host families, family friends, and family coaches.The organization's goal
is to bridge the gap for families before DHS services are necessary or to
fulfill a need that is unmet by other social service agencies.
Please RSVP to the Lower Deer Creek church office at 656-2076 if you are
interested in attending. Come and learn more about this opportunity to
offer Biblical hospitality to children and families in crisis.
