▪ Saturday Kitchen Washington
Mennonite is in charge of the noon meal for Saturday Kitchen on Saturday
September 2nd at the
United Presbyterian Church here in Washington. Signup sheets for donated
food items and workers are in the foyer here at the church. Please sign
up and join us as we prepare and serve a meal for persons in the community who
need a noon meal but also look forward to the fellowship. We also provide
carry out meals that day for persons who are home bound. For questions or
comments please contact one of the committee members Gloria Widmer, Phyllis
Litwiller or Sandy Buhrow. Thank you in advance for helping us prepare
and serve the noon meal at Saturday Kitchen September 2nd.
▪ Please place your school kits and/or
relief kits in the foyer today! They will be going to Crowded Closet this week until they can be
shipped to a regional MCC center. Thank you for your generous donations.
▪ Last Sunday the congregation was invited
to sign a “Petition on Gun Violence in the United States” sponsored by Central Plains Mennonite
Conference. The petition is on a table in the fellowship hall for you to sign
if you weren’t able to do so last week. In addition there is a packet of
information on Gun Violence Prevention put together by MCC. Please consider
signing this petition. Thank you.

Request: Pray for Mennonite sisters and brothers in
Venezuela where the political situation is in crisis, adding to the stress
of hunger, joblessness and homelessness. Pray for peace in Venezuela and
for wisdom and strength for Jesus' disciples there.
Iowa MCC Relief
Sale
▪ The Home Place Retreat will be hosting
Sweet Sundae Serenade: a homemade ice cream sundae bar, to raise funds as part
of the MCC Relief Sale on Sunday,
September 10 at 3 pm. The public is
invited to come enjoy live music. This is a donation event; no tickets are
needed. The Home Place Retreat is located between Wellman and Kalona, on
the south side of the road: 1881 Highway 22.
