For questions or comments please contact one of the committee members Gloria Widmer, Phyllis Litwiller or Sandy Buhrow.  Thank you in advance for helping us prepare and serve the noon meal at Saturday Kitchen September 2nd. ▪ Please place your school kits and/or relief kits in the foyer today! They will be going to Crowded Closet this week until they can be shipped to a regional MCC center. Thank you for your generous donations. ▪ Last Sunday the congregation was invited to sign a “Petition on Gun Violence in the United States” sponsored by Central Plains Mennonite Conference. The petition is on a table in the fellowship hall for you to sign if you weren’t able to do so last week. In addition there is a packet of information on Gun Violence Prevention put together by MCC. Please consider signing this petition. Thank you. Crooked Creek Christian Camp ▪ TODAY at 6:00pm is Sing and S'mores! Hymn singing and deluxe s'mores who's in? ▪ Coming up August 29 from 5-7pm is a camp open house and supper. Burgers and homemade ice cream near the pond. A dedication of the Welcome Center will take place at 5:45pm Iowa Mennonite School ▪ IMS will begin its 73nd year of classes on August 23.  - New Student & Family Orientation is on August 22 at   7:00PM - The All-School Retreat will happen all day on August 24 at   Crooked Creek Christian Camp in Washington - IMS All-Parent Meeting will take place on August 28 at   7:00PM SundaySucCentral Plains Conference ▪ Sunday school teachers and small group leaders, would you like some practical tips on how to prepare for and facilitate Bible studies? More information is coming soon. ▪ Central Plains Mennonite Conference Prayer Request:  Pray for Mennonite sisters and brothers in Venezuela where the political situation is in crisis, adding to the stress of hunger, joblessness and homelessness. Pray for peace in Venezuela and for wisdom and strength for Jesus' disciples there. Iowa MCC Relief Sale ▪ The Home Place Retreat will be hosting Sweet Sundae Serenade: a homemade ice cream sundae bar, to raise funds as part of the MCC Relief Sale on Sunday, September 10 at 3 pm. The public is invited to come enjoy live music. This is a donation event; no tickets are needed.  The Home Place Retreat is located between Wellman and Kalona, on the south side of the road: 1881 Highway 22. Area Announcements ▪ Shape note singing from the Sacred Harp - Beat the heat for a SECOND sing in August and join us on Friday, August 25th, at 7:00PM in the air conditioned East Union foyer as we make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
