▪ May 2017 My Coins Count - Bring your coins for the My Coins
Count (MyCC) offering throughout the month of May. Coins will join with others
across Iowa and around the world to be used for water projects and sand dams in
Mozambique.
▪ WMC will be serving the noon meal for
Saturday Kitchen at
the Washington United Presbyterian Church on Saturday May 27th
2017. If you have not signed up yet to help and are available or you
can donate requested food items please contact Gloria Widmer or Phyllis
Litwiller. All donated food items must be at the Presbyterian Church by 10:00AM
on Saturday May 27th. For those persons working at Saturday
Kitchen please remember to wear your “Washington Mennonite Church Love is a
Verb” T-shirt. If you have not helped with Saturday Kitchen before or
have not signed up to help for a while, please consider helping us this time as
we prepare and serve food and make carry outs for those persons needing a warm
meal and fellowship around a table. Please join us. You will be
glad you did.

the church to raise money for the MYF trip to

Graduation Exercises will be held Saturday, May 20 and
Sunday, May 21. Baccalaureate speaker is Gloria Villatoro; mother
of graduating senior, Anthony. She currently is full-time pastor of Torre
Fuerte Mennonite Church, Iowa City. Senior student speakers will be Calli Shaw,
daughter of Rich & Angie Shaw and Cole Yoder, son of Randy & Paula
Yoder. Commencement speaker is Amy Gingerich, Hudson, Ohio (IMS ’95) who serves
as editor at Herald Press books and editorial director at Menno Media. Both
services begin at 6:00PM
in Celebration Hall.
▪ Into The Black: A Ten Year Celebration Friday, June 9 at 7:30PM. The entire community is invited to attend this end-of-year fundraiser event that will celebrate the fine arts at IMS through many alumni performances, marking the ten year anniversary of Celebration Hall. In between the performances, meals will be presented through short vignettes that will be auctioned off. We have added more acts and meals. Check out the updated list on Facebook.

Plains Mennonite Conference Prayer Request: Central Plains Partner in
Mission Ted Lewis requests that we pray for his new ministry initiative,
the Agape Peace Center in Duluth. See www.agapepeacecenter.com. Pray that the right people will be drawn to
the peace education events and be moved not only at the head level but the
heart level.
Mennonite Agencies
▪ Mennonite Church USA Executive Director,
Ervin Stutzman will hold an informational meeting about the
upcoming convention in Orlando at Washington Mennonite Church (815 E. Polk St,
Washington, IA) on Tuesday, May 30
at 7pm. Ervin will provide an overview
to the agenda for the delegate sessions as well as an orientation to the Future
Church Summit process. Delegates and anyone else interested are welcome to
attend.

▪ The MCC Material Resources Center in North Newton, Kansas is
running particularly low on the following items:
bottles of shampoo (13-24 oz.), bars of infant friendly/mild soap, infant
sleepers/onesies (sizes 3-9 months), men's crew socks (white). Without these
items, various kits cannot be completed so we need your help! Kit items can be
dropped off at 121 E. 30th in North Newton or purchased online (Amazon Smile or
other online retailers) and shipped directly to MCC. Questions? Please contact
