▪ The CROWDED CLOSET is expecting us for a "work night" on Tuesday, November 15th.  We will show up at 5:30 PM (or as soon as you can get there) and work until 8, building Christmas trees, stuffing stockings, and stocking shelves.  We will order in Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.  Just come




The third and final Central Plains Bible Study webinar with Meghan Good is coming up!  Join us at 7:30pm on Monday, November 21 in the sanctuary. Meghan will address matters of biblical authority and inspiration in Living and Active: Where the Bible Came From and Why It Matters.

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

This Thursday, November 10 is Annual Meeting. We hope that you will join the staff and board of directors in celebrating the past year of camp ministry. A meal served at 6:15pm will be grilled turkey tenderloin with fixin's and pie. All are invited to attend. 

November 18-19 is Come to the Table Craft Retreat. This bring-your-own-craft weekend features an opportunity to work on your project and connect with others as crafty as you. See more details at www.crookedcreekcamp.org 

Iowa Mennonite School

This afternoon! The IMS Fall Drama, Those Crazy Ladies In The House On The Corner will be showing in Celebration Hall at 3:00PM.  Tickets are $8/Adults and $5/Students.

Also today after the drama - Backstage Tour: Prospective Family event following the play. Get a backstage tour, meet the cast, crew and directors of the fall play and ask them questions about being involved in the drama department in high school. Don't forget to call to the school to reserve your tickets - middle school students are free.

Blood Drive - The IMS chapter of the National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Monday November 7 7:00-11:00AM. Plan now to donate blood by scheduling a donation time through the IMS office (656-2073 or 683-2586).

FFA – fruit, cheese and sausage sales continue through November 11. Contact any IMS FFA member or call the office to order fruit. Items will be delivered the first week of December.

Rebecca will lead a workshop for worship leaders, scripture readers and story tellers.  In the evening, Rebecca will lead us
West Union Mennonite Church is hosting a special weekend focus on Worship on November 11-13.  Rebecca Slough, Academic Dean and Associate Professor of Worship and the Arts at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, is our featured speaker for the weekend.  Our theme is "We are here to worship...Now What?"  On Friday night, we will meet for a light supper and then hear an introductory presentation on "Why Worship?"  The conversation continues on Saturday morning with "What is Worship?"  On Saturday afternoon,
in a hymn sing.  It will be a full weekend.  If you are interested in attending all or any part of this weekend, you are welcome to come, free of charge.  If you are interested, please let Candi Schmieder, our Administrative Assistant know of how many might be coming so we can prepare accordingly.

J-POG (Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you to hear Marty Gingerich address the topic, “Haiti- Slavery Yesterday and Slavery Today.”  Marty and his wife Heidi served as Mennonite Central Committee volunteers in Haiti for seven years.  Since 2010, Marty has returned to Haiti annually to assist in community development. Join us at Washington Mennonite Church on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 6 pm for a finger food potluck (please bring your own table service) and conversation, or at 7 pm for Marty's presentation.  For more information, contact Roger Farmer at 319.653.2547 or Jane Yoder-Short at wilmajane17(at)gmail.com. 

Bryan Moyer Suderman will be speaking at Sugar Creek Mennonite on Nov. 13-15.  Bryan is known for his engaging and interactive style of speaking, teaching and song leading.  He will explore the Gospel of Matthew, paying close attention to the way Jesus is depicted as interpreter of Scripture. Come and join us as we engage the Bible with Bryan for fall special meetings:  Sunday, Nov. 13, 6pm; Monday Nov. 14, 7 pm; Tuesday, Nov. 15 MYF Chili supper at 5-7 pm with the service beginning at 7 pm.

John A. Roetlin will be the featured guest at the fall meeting of the Mennonite Historical Society of Iowa.  This event will be at 7:00 p.m. on November 14, 2016 at the Kalona Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall.  This is open to the public.  Please come to hear stories from John as he speaks about “The Kalona Cheese factory, a window into local farm and community life,” (1947-2014).  There will also be an opportunity to join the society, subscribe to the society’s quarterly newsletter “Reflections”, purchase apple butter and re-new your membership. 

Dan Fisher and his helpers will once again be baking pumpkin cheesecakes to raise money for the Kalona Mennonite International Student Aid Fund. Our current project is supporting Rudi Mucaj from Albania, who is currently in his second year at Goshen College.  The cost is $35 per cheesecake.  To place an order please contact Wanda Miller Beachy at 319.683.3983 or email at beachydw(at)sharontc.net.  The deadline to order is November 16th.  Cheesecakes maybe picked up Tuesday Nov 21st  from 4 - 7p.m. at Kalona Mennonite Church.  Thank you!

The MDS Region III Meeting will be held at Kalona Mennonite Church November 18 and 19. Friday evening is the banquet and program.  Saturday are the business and information meetings.  Registration is $25 plus any meals.
