The MYF want to thank all who came out to support us
at our potato bar. We are always
amazed by how Washington Mennonite shows up and supports us. We were able to
raise over $1,000! I want to give a special thanks to the MYF parents for
bringing food and helping in the kitchen. Also a special thank you to the
ladies that brought dessert and the sauces for the meal. We could never do what
we do without the support of this amazing church family. Thank you.
▪ Though
it seems a long way off, Christmas is coming! We'll be having a 6:00pm service here on
Christmas Eve, and, because Christmas falls on a Sunday, we'll also have a 9:30 Christmas Day service. If you or
your family would like to volunteer to be a reader, a musician, or to share any
other special talents on Christmas or Christmas Eve, let Amanda know as soon as
you can!

▪ November 28 - Visit Day for all area
prospective families. These are open to students in 8th -10th grade. There
will be a coffee Q&A time for parents at the beginning of the day
(8:15-9:00AM) and students will be invited to stay the day (8:15AM - 3:10PM) to
attend classes with a student ambassador, eat lunch, and meet faculty and
staff. Come get a glimpse at what a day at IMS is like! Register at www.iowamennonite.org/visit
▪ November 29 -
GIVING TUESDAY You’ve
heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Both are days
where consumers are enticed by sales and discounted items and end up spending
lots of money on things they (may or) may not need.
Giving Tuesday is the exact opposite. Celebrated on
the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday kicks
off the charitable season, the season of GIVING. This year you have
a chance to participate in this movement with IMS. For the twenty-four
hours of 11.29.16 we encourage you to give and give generously.
You can give online or you can send a check to the school
postmarked 11.29.16. Through this event we hope to raise $11,029 for
the Student Aid Fund.
▪ The one act Christmas opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors will be on the Celebration
Hall stage for one night only on December 17 at 7:30PM. They are
still a few tickets left and are $15/adults and $10/students. Call the IMS
office to reserve your tickets today 656-2073.
Central Plains
Conference
▪ Advent At
Home begins today! Download
the free guide for Advent family worship at www.anabaptistfaithformation.org.
Don’t let advertisements define Christmas; invite your children to “Come, Walk
in the Light of Day” with Jesus.
▪ Video and audio recordings of the three Bible
Study Webinars with Meghan Good are available on the Bible Study
Webinars page at www.centralplainsmc.org. Make use
of these to raise the bar on reading and interpreting the Bible: Sunday
School classes and Bible study groups could watch and discuss them together; Sunday
School superintendents could use them to train teachers; individuals can watch
them for personal growth.
▪ Central Plains Mennonite
Conference Prayer Request: Next weekend, Central Plains conference
ministers Tim Detweiler and Dave and Shana Boshart will attend the annual
gathering of Mennonite Church USA conference ministers. Pray for God's guidance
and blessing on this gathering.
Mennonite Agencies
▪
Mennonite Mission
Network (MMN) Prayer Request: Petrus and Yuliana Handoyo and their two sons
are sent to Cambodia by an Indonesian Mennonite mission agency and Mennonite
Mission Network. Pray for Petrus as he teaches religion and ethics in two
universities, and for Yuliana as she directs an education ministry for children
living on the edge of the city.
