Mennonite
▪ The Church’s fiscal year ends
on August 31, which means there are
only 2 more Sundays (including today, August 21) for offerings for the Annual
Blueprint. In order to meet our financial
obligations, we need $9,250 before
August 31. That
is an average of $4,625 per Sunday. Can you help us meet this goal? Please prayerfully
consider how you can generously support the mission of Washington
Mennonite. If you have questions, see
Mary Lou Farmer, Treasurer. Thank you
for your generous gifts!
▪ The church’s fiscal year ends on August 31. Please turn in all bills to Mary Lou Farmer, Treasurer, by next Sunday, August 28. Thank
you!
▪ Attention Committee Chairs: Annual Reports are due by next Sunday, August 28th to the church office.
▪ Potluck TODAY: We are having a potluck picnic at the Wellman City
Park after the service today. Dickie
Miller enjoys being with his church family so we are meeting at Wellman.
▪ Help fill school kits for MCC: It is great to see school kits piling up in the church
foyer and you can still purchase items for kits. We will collect them until the end of
August. If you want to make kits and
there are no bags, just place items on the table and we will find bags for
them.. Thanks for supporting this project for MCC.

Iowa Mennonite
School
▪ Please come support IMS on
Saturday, August 27th. There will be several family events happening
throughout the day at IMS in which you can participate.
The IMS PTO
will be hosting the JOETOWN CLASSIC 5K. There
will be a kids 1 mile race starting at 8:30am, and a 5K Run/Walk for people of
all ages starting at 9am. Details and
registration can be found at www.iowamennonite.org.
Everence welcomes the opportunity to partner with the IMS PTO in sponsoring the
Joetown Classic 5K Run. Everence is
hosting a complimentary lunch between
11am-1pm.
Be a part of an easy $6000
donation to IMS! All you
have to do is take a short, no sales pitch, test drive (without a sales
person) from IMS to Lower Deer Creek. Really it’s that easy, and it’s free. Anyone 18 yrs or older with a drivers license
can pick from a variety of Ford vehicles and take this very short test
drive. For each drive, IMS gets $20 from
Deery Ford. Test Drives will take place between 8am-2pm.
Central Plains
Conference
▪ Central Plains is offering three webinars
this fall on reading and interpreting the Bible. The first, at 7:30pm on Monday, September 12,
is called Between Joints and Marrow: An Introduction to the Art of Biblical
Interpretation. You will learn the
role of historical context in interpreting the Bible, basic skills for
interpreting different types of biblical literature, and how reading passages
within their broader literary context can transform meaning. Find more details and an RSVP form at www.centralplainsmc.org.
▪ Women, are you longing for a restful
retreat? Hungry for some new insights and activities (not to
mention someone else’s delicious cooking)?
Ready to spend some time with friends from across the conference? If
so, sign up for this year’s Women’s Retreat at Swan Lake Christian Camp on
September 17 and 18. Look for a flier with more information and a sign-up
sheet in your church or contact Elisabeth Harder Schrock (eharderschrock(at)gmail.com
or 507.427.2771) to register yourself and/or your church’s group of women. We hope to see you there!
▪ The Sower Prayer Request: On Friday and Saturday, the Central Plains Conference
board and comiittees will be meeting together at East Union Mennonite

conference moderator, and the committee chairs as they plan these meetings.
Mennonite Agencies

sewing kits in a timely manner. These
items can be brought to 121 E 30th St, PO Box 235 in North Newton,
Kan., purchased online via Amazon Smile or other retailers and shipped to MCC
or we welcome your monetary donations designated Kit Supplies. Thank you for your ongoing support of the
