Called of God: A Chosen People
We
believe that the church, the community of faith, is a people called by
God. The church is God’s church. God has called the church to participate in
God’s own redemptive activity in the world.
There is not just one thing that God calls us to be and do. As we listen for God and seek to discern God’s
call, we find that the call of God relates to more than careers and
occupations. God calls us to certain
tasks and roles in family life, extracurricular activities, relationships and
church. God calls us to play all these
roles, all at the same time. Yet within
these roles God calls us to new ventures, new activities, and new attitudes. We find that God’s call is closely associated
with our passions, gifts, talents and abilities.
GATHERING AS GOD’S PEOPLE
We invite you to greet those around
you and welcome visitors to our time of worship as you enter the sanctuary. As the prelude begins, we invite you to end your
conversations with those around you and quiet your hearts and minds in
preparation for the worship service.
