▪ Sandy
Buhrow and Karen Watson will be delivering Meals on Wheels
during this coming week from Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 13. If
you would like to help deliver Meals on Wheels in the future, please contact a
member of the Outreach and Service Committee (Roger Farmer, Tim Widmer, Carol
Detweiler, Mike Bates). Thanks to everybody who helped out this
year!
▪ FAMILY FUN NITE : Wednesday, March 11th, at 5:30 p.m. Soup will be provided. Bring finger food
to go along with the soup. Frivolity assured.
▪ Saturday Kitchen on
Saturday March 14th will be hosted by
Washington Mennonite Church. Sign up sheets for both workers and food items are on the foyer table in the church
entry way. Please look over the
worker and donated food items sheets and sign up to help us as we prepare and
serve a meal at the United Presbyterian Church on Saturday March 14th.
The number of persons served meals in the last couple of weeks has been
high. Many of the guests have told us they look forward to when we

▪ Turkey Steak Supper | The Hillcrest Academy Alumni Association along with the TWP
Optimists will host the annual Turkey Steak Supper Sat, Mar 14.
The menu of turkey, baked potato, salad, dinner roll, and pie & ice
cream will be served from 4:30-7:00 PM. A freewill donation will be taken at
the gate. The Hillcrest proceeds go towards student scholarships.
Essentially by supporting this meal you are making our school more affordable
for students in our community!

75 year anniversary cookbook we have your recipes, now we need your
stories! Please send us food related school stories. Stories about a
particular cook, a particular lunch menu item, a favorite team meal,
stories about the chili supper or pork supper or apple fritter booth, stories
about the 'Center Room'...anything. Thanks for your help in making this
cookbook a sentimental keepsake for our community. Please email stories

▪ Central Plains Prayer Request: Pray for the Venezuela partnership. Venezuelan church leaders report that principles of Anabaptist Christianity like community and nonviolence are very attractive in Venezuela today. will host its popular workshop, Make Medicare an easy step, on Monday, March 16, at 6:30
p.m. Attendees will learn about the various Medicare plans and what they cover,
plans that supplement Medicare, and enrollment details and deadlines. The

First Mennonite Church of Iowa City SUNDAY, Mar. 8 as the Torre
Fuerte congregation holds a fundraising meal for Hillcrest Academy tuition for
Edna Villatoro. (Please make checks out to Hillcrest Academy). The
menu includes chicken fajitas and all the toppings, beans & rice, fresh
fruit, and cake. A vegetarian option is also available. Serving begins at noon.

(Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you to view Hebron, a documentary by
Palestinian filmmaker Yousef Natsheh. Palestinians have lived in
their homeland for centuries, but we seldom hear the stories of ordinary people
struggling with olive harvest, access to education, and home demolitions. Join

▪ Come hear the Bethel College (North
Newton, Kan.) Concert Choir at West Union
Mennonite Church, 3253 305th St, Parnell on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m.
This concert is part of the choir’s annual spring break tour. Under the
direction of Dr. William Eash, the 50-person mixed voice choir sings a variety
of sacred choral music from the 15th century to today. The concert is free and
open to the public; a freewill offering will be taken.

Sat. April 25th, a live simulcast of Priscilla Shirer will be held at Lower
Deer Creek Mennonite Church from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Priscilla, daughter of
pastor Tony Evans, is an author, a popular Bible Study leader and conference
