Hillcrest Academy
▪ Apple Fritters | The
Hillcrest PTO will be operating their historic apple fritter booth at the
Kalona Fall Festival on September 27 & 28. And at the festival, the
Hillcrest Choirs and Praise Band will be performing on Friday, September 27;
the choirs at 2:30-3:00 pm and Praise Band from 3:00-3:30 pm.

▪ Joetown Classic | The annual 5K run/walk will again be part of
Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, October 5. Make sure you sign-up by

▪ Annual Pork Supper | On Saturday, October 5 serving from 4:30-7:00 pm.
Tickets can be purchased from any junior student or at the door; Adults
$10.00, Seniors 65+ $9.00, Children age 4-12 $5.00, age 3 and under free.
The meal consists of pork, baked potato, salad and dessert. Help support our
junior students and our school at this traditional meal!

Conference
▪ Central Plains Prayer Request: Please pray for Amanda Bleichty, Conference Minister of Christian Formation and Director of Communications, as she prepares to return to the office on September 10. Amanda has been on maternity leave since the birth of her son, Henry Hoyt Bleichty on July 15.
▪ Fall
meeting of the Crowded Closet Association will be held Monday, Sept. 16,
at 7 pm at East Union Mennonite Church. All volunteers and interested persons
are invited to attend and learn of the latest happenings at the Closet.
▪ Everence to hold Medicare workshop in
Iowa City – Everence® will host its popular workshop, Make Medicare an easy step, on Monday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will learn about the various
Medicare plans and what they cover, plans that supplement Medicare, and
enrollment details and deadlines. The workshop will be presented by Everence
staff at Kirkwood Community College, 1816 Lower Muscatine Road, Iowa
City (Use Main Entrance, Room 262). The workshop is free, but space is limited! Reserve your spot

Mission Network Prayer Request: Mennonite Mission Network praises God for Mary Beyler’s 45 years of
ministry in Japan. Pray for her in these final weeks of teaching, preaching,
and saying good-bye. Ask God for a happy transition to Greencroft, a retirement
community in Indiana.
▪ MC USA Announcement: Peace
Academic Center, formerly Hopi Mission School, began classes for pre-K and
kindergarten students in August. “We are very thankful and
grateful for everyone who has been involved and sent us their prayers, past and
present. It’s with their support that they are able to open the school again,”
