begin with supper (brick oven pizza) followed by fun activities for all. Sunday

SundaySucHillcrest Academy
▪ Ice Cream Social | 5th-8th graders come cheer on the Hillcrest Ravens this
Tues, Sept 17 as they take on the Pekin Panthers starting at 5:30 PM.
Use your passes to get into the game for free and don't forget to bring a
friend! We will have a special area for all the kids to sit and watch the game
together. You, your friends and your families can join us in the cafeteria
after the varsity game for ice cream! If you need more passes to hand out to
friends, email Rebecca at rbeachymiller@hillcrestravens.org.
▪ Apple Fritters | The Hillcrest PTO will be operating their historic
apple fritter booth at the Kalona Fall Festival on Sept 27 & 28. And at the
festival, the Hillcrest Choirs and Praise Band will be performing on Fri, Sept
27; the choirs at 2:30-3:00 pm and Praise Band from 3:00-3:30 pm.
▪ Homecoming & Alumni Family Weekend | Join us on
campus Oct 4-5. Friday
night at 5:30 PM come out to Hillcrest Union for the alumni
volleyball game followed by the alumni soccer game on
the soccer field at 7:00 PM. Saturday morning run or walk in the Joetown Classic 5K (kids
race starts at 9:30 AM, followed by the 5K at 10:00 AM). Then be sure and stick
around for the Hillcrest Tailgate (KCII's Big Red
Radio, concessions, Spikeball, and a super-fun 36' long inflatable). Later
that evening return to Hillcrest Union for the annual Pork Supper hosted
by the Junior Class. The meal will be served from 4:30-7:00 PM and will be
followed by a Community Hymn Sing in Celebration Hall.
▪ Joetown Classic | The annual 5K run/walk will again be part of
Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct 5. Make sure you sign-up by

the runners as we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our boys XC State
Championship!
▪ Annual Pork Supper | On Sat, Oct 5 serving from 4:30-7:00 pm. Tickets can
be purchased from any junior Hillcrest student or at the door; Adults
$10.00, Seniors 65+ $9.00, Children age 4-12 $5.00, age 3 and under free.
The meal consists of pork, baked potato, salad and dessert. Help support our
junior students and our school at this traditional meal!
Central Plains Conference
▪ Tim Detweiler was
diagnosed with a moderate to severe leaky mitral valve in his heart. Please
pray for wisdom and direction as Tim works with his cardiologist to discern
the best path forward to address this issue.

meeting of the Crowded Closet Association will be held Monday, Sept. 16,
at 7 pm at East Union Mennonite Church. All volunteers and interested persons

Mission Network Prayer Request: Freddy and Margrit Kipfer Barrón serve the Bolivia Mennonite Church in
many capacities through Mennonite Mission Network. Pray for them as they work
with young congregations, coordinate Christian education ministries, provide
pastoral care, and train church leaders.
