▪ Sunday School options for December will include the Uniform Series and a
special Christmas Carol Sunday School, in which people are to bring special
Christmas memories to share and their favorite Christmas songs to sing.
▪ Saturday Kitchen: WMC served ninety six persons Saturday November 24th at
noon and made eight carry outs. Thank you to everyone who helped serve
the noon meal at Saturday Kitchen on a busy Saturday following the Thanksgiving
holiday. WMC next time to serve the Saturday Kitchen meal at the
United Presbyterian Church is Saturday January 12th, 2019.

Iowa Mennonite School
▪ Iowa Mennonite School is
seeking an energetic leader with vision to serve as principal beginning July
2019. Iowa
Mennonite School offers a Christ-centered education within the Anabaptist
Mennonite tradition. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to
Anabaptist faith and practice; serve as spokesperson for the school; and
advance the mission and vision as set by the Operating Board. The
principal will have skills in educational leadership, interpersonal
communication, fiscal management, and strategic planning. The principal will be
a bridge-builder who
fosters

▪ THANK YOU! | To all who participated in #GivingTuesday by making a
gift to IMS. It's our generous, supportive community that allows us
to do what we do. At this point we have raised over $22,000! And we still know

▪ Christian Music Concert |The Hope For All Seasons Tour featuring Citizen Way and Chris
August will make a stop at IMS on Sunday, December 9. Tickets are available to
purchase online , at IMS in the office, or at the door. Contact Pam Evans

▪ IMS Christmas Concert | Sunday, December 16 at 3:00PM in Celebration
Hall. Performing groups are 2nd Quarter Intro to Music, Chorale, Concert Choir,
Symphonic Band, and our two new acapella choirs! Join us for a concert of
varied repertoire as we prepare for the end of the semester and the coming of
Christmas.
▪ Prospective Family Christmas Party | December 16 following the 3:00 PM Christmas Concert. All
families with students in grades 6-8 are invited.
▪ Alumni Night | The annual event
will be on Tuesday, December 18 with
games starting in Hillcrest Union at 4:30PM (JVB, VG, VB). Prizes will be given
away throughout the evening. There will also be alumni and student activities
during the halftimes of the varsity games as well as an alumni reception following the
last game.
▪ First Look Friday | Happening on December 7 & January 4 we are setting
aside the first Friday of
each month for drop-in tours to parents and/or students who want to see what
IMS has to offer in a more casual way than our Visit Days.

God for Linda Oyer, who retired this year after three decades of service in
France through Mennonite Mission Network. Pray for a smooth transition as she
moves to the United States and speaks in churches. In “retirement,” she plans
to return to France twice a year to teach and lead workshops.

Closet Thrift Shop is on the move! Join the excitement by touring the new shop to view progress. Visitors
are welcome to the new shop site on Tuesday, December 4 at 3:30pm. New shop is
located at 851 Hwy 6 in Iowa City. Enter through the customer

receive weekly updates to stay informed.
▪ Pleasantview Home & Health services available. Services of light housekeeping, transportation, shopping,
personal care assist, or assist with meal preps aids folks in maintaining their
independence in their own home. Pleasantview is happy to announce being able to
provide this kind of service in the Kalona community. Call Pleasantview at

▪ Phillip
Cameron with Orphans Hands will be at Fairview Church at 7pm on Sunday Dec. 2.
Orphans Hands is a ministry in Moldova that excepts orphan teenagers who would be
turned out on the streets and very likely picked up by those in sex
trafficking. There will be a number of young girls along who will give
their testimony and share about the Ministry.
▪ Sunday December 2nd, Kalona
Mennonite Church will be hosting a love offering meal at noon for Conrad,
Kalen and Oliver Yutzy. One year old Oliver has a genetic disorder which
has been life changing. Please join us in showing our love and support for this
family.

Union MYF invites you to a delicious haystack fundraiser meal on Sunday,
December 2 at noon. Bring your friends and enjoy a time of
food and fellowship! Proceeds will help cover IMS tuition for the Villatoro
family and Louis Etienne.

join us on Tuesday, December 4 @ 6:30 PM as JOYFUL NOISE presents “Make a
JOYFUL NOISE at Christmas” in the Washington High School
Auditorium. JOYFUL NOISE is an adult special needs choir, directed by Amy
(Swartzendruber) Drayfahl, made up of 30+ individuals, ranging in age from
16-70+ years, from Washington County. They are excited to take the stage
and share a fun filled concert featuring timeless Christmas Favorites and
bursting with abundant JOY! All who attend will be entertained and truly
blessed by their performance.
▪ HOMEMADE CHEESE BALLS! – Members of Lower Deer
Creek Mennonite Church are selling our popular homemade cheese balls as a way
to raise funds for church missions, both local and abroad. The cheese
balls are available in 3 flavors: pineapple, ham, and veggie! They
will be made and ready for pickup at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church on
Saturday, December 15th from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is

▪ A Perspectives of the World
Christian Movement Class is coming to Kalona in January
of 2019. Learn to use what's in you to bless the world around you as you
experience 15 powerful lessons with a new instructor each week. We will study
how Scripture, history, culture, and strategy converge to reveal the unfolding
of God's redemptive purposes. Dual credit is available through Excelsior
College for older high school students. Undergraduate and graduate credit is
