Mennonite Church is presenting the worship service at Halcyon House this afternoon at 2:30
pm. Please plan to attend and help sing some hymns.

of Advent Prayers" for Washington Mennonite. See Amy Widmer to sign-up for a daily
time to pray. Pray at least 15 minutes of the hour you've signed up for. Prayer
resources will be available for anyone who is interested. Also, stay tuned for
opportunities to pray together at the church during the weeks of Advent.

was restored from a fire with more than 200 hours of volunteer help. The
annual meeting was celebrated by 128 people raising $10,185! Thank you for
supporting camp ministry!

Night | Saturday December 16 Games
start at 3:00PM (JVB, VB, VG). Prizes will be given away throughout the
afternoon/evening including 3 overnight stays. There will also be alumni and
student activities during the halftimes of each game as well as an alumni
reception following the last game.

Concert | December 17 at 3:00PM in Celebration
Hall. To close the concert, the choirs and band would like to invite
anyone who has sung the Hallelujah Chorus before to join them on stage. There
will be two rehearsals before the performance. The rehearsals will be held
on Friday December 15 from 3:30-4:30PM and Saturday, December 16
from 9:00-10:00AM. If you cannot make it to the rehearsals but would still
like to participate, you can join us on Sunday at the concert.

Central Plains Conference

is organizing a work team to go to Quito, Ecuador, in late February or early
March. Now that the
church has moved to their own building, there are projects to be done:
construction, painting, etc. If you would like to go on the work team, contact

▪ Central Plains Mennonite Conference Prayer Request: We invite you to
pray and fast on Tuesday for the Villatoro and Huesca families.
Max & Gloria's brother-in-law, Alex Huesca, who is the pastor at Iglesia El
Balsamo in Musciatine, Iowa, has also been deported. Pray for strength
and wisdom for these families and all families in which husbands and
fathers are separated from wives and children.

Faith and Learning – Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary,
Elkhart, Indiana – Give thanks for a new publication, Where Are We?
Pastoral Environments and Care for Migrants, edited by Daniel Schipani,
Dr.Psy., Ph.D. Published by the Society for Intercultural Pastoral Care and
Counseling, the book includes contributions from AMBS faculty members who
participated in a recent collaborative faculty scholarship project.
Area Events
▪ Sunday,
December 3 you are invited to come and enjoy a traditional Mexican meal
at Wellman Mennonite church. We'll be serving pork or chicken tacos, rice & beans
(with pico de gallo & guacamole salsa), cheese quesadillas (for the kids),
chips and salsa, and strawberry cake for dessert. Lunch will be served from 11:45 am - 1:15 pm; proceeds
will provide for the ongoing medical expenses of Melitza Jimenez.
▪ HOMEMADE CHEESE BALLS! Members of Lower Deer Creek Mennonite
Church are selling our popular homemade cheese balls as a way to raise funds
for missions of the church. The cheese balls are available in four flavors:
pineapple, ham, veggie and back by popular demand - pesto! They will be
made and ready for pickup at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church on Saturday,
December 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $9.50 each or 3 for

J-POG (Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you to hear Kathy Kelly address the topic, "Yemen,
Afghanistan, and the War against the Poor" Kathy Kelly is the
coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence and has been nominated for the
Nobel Peace Prize three times. Join us on Sunday evening, December 10, 2017, at Kalona Mennonite
Church, 902 6th Street, Kalona, IA at 6:00 p.m. for a
finger-foods potluck and conversation (please bring your own table service) or
at 7 pm to hear the presentation from Kathy Kelly.
