▪ Cider Making! Join the WMC family at CCCC on
Friday eve, September 29th to fire up the cider press at
Gay's shop. We'll start at 5:00 PM, just get there when you
can. Bring clean jugs, lawn chairs, and finger foods. We will
provide plates, napkins, drink cups, the beverage, hot dogs, buns, condiments,
and chips. We'll have the s'mores, too. Call Myron regarding apples
or Asian pears you might have.
▪ If you are
interested in joining a Sunday School class meeting in October and November that will study the topic Money from the new “Upside Down Living”
series, let Andrea know so she can order a book for you!
▪ Villatoro Family Fundraiser – Thanks so much for your generosity towards the Villatoro family
fundraiser these past 2 weeks. Our
initial goal of $2000.00 has been reached. However, if you would like
to contribute and have not already done so, we can certainly surpass our goal
to assist with ongoing expenses. Contributions should be earmarked
"Villatoro Family Fund". Continue to remember Max and Gloria
and their children in your prayers in the coming days/weeks.
Crooked Creek Christian Camp
▪ SENIOR DAY
is October 12 with musician and story-teller Paul
Siebert. Paul is a
musician, song writer and story-teller. Hailing from Lincoln, Nebraska, Paul
travels a five state area sharing music and stories that include venues such as
history re-enactments, weddings, nursing homes, schools and coffeehouses. You
are likely to hear a song you love with a wide range of musical ability playing
pop, rock 'n roll, country, gospel to folk music on one of his 8 instruments.
Come to Crooked Creek to tap your toes and clap your hands as you listen to
Paul Siebert lighten your day! Open to whoever wants to have a fun day register

Iowa Mennonite School
▪ IMS needs volunteers on October 9 to help with alumni and friends data collection. Come out to
IMS at 6:00PM and join friends, classmates, and faculty/staff as we
work together at gathering emails to complete our info database. Food and
fellowship will be provided. Please RSVP to Jeremy Ours at jours@iowamennonite.org.
▪ The Joetown Classic 5K
run walk will take place on Saturday October 14 at IMS. Go to iowamennonite.org/joetown-classic for details and to register.
▪ The Annual Pork Supper will be on Saturday October 14 serving
from 4:30-7:00PM in Hillcrest Union. The junior class is
currently selling tickets, but tickets will also be available at the door.
Tickets are $10 Adults, $9 Seniors 65+, $5 Kids 4-12, and Free Kids 0-3.
▪ The IMS Music Department is looking for instruments. If you or your family have instruments
laying around, now is the time to donate them to IMS! We will take your
instruments and use them for students who can not afford to purchase or rent an
instrument from other places. Please contact Alisa Kandel at akandel@iowamennonite.org with questions or to donate.

15 6th-8th graders and their families are invited to a Harvest Party with our FFA following
the Fall Music Concert (around 4:30PM). There will be hot dogs, fun and

Central Plains Conference
▪ The first Central Plains Bible Study Webinar is coming soon! Join us at 7:30pm on Tuesday, September 26,
for Don’t Mourn or Weep: Goals and problems. We’ll start with
how leaders can contribute to a good study and move on to addressing the biggest
challenges leaders encounter. These free webinars are especially for Sunday School teachers of youth and adults or facilitators of
small groups, but anyone is welcome. RSVP on the Bible

▪ Central Plains Mennonite Conference Prayer
Request: Pray for those who are
planning and participating in the webinar on Tuesday at 7:30pm, "Don't
Mourn or Weep: Goals and problems," the first in our series of three free
webinars offering practical tips for leading Bible study. Also, pray for Max
Villatoro on Thursday from 11:30am when he has a very significant meeting.

Area Events
▪ SPECIAL PRAYER
SERVICE FOR MAX VILLATORO: On
Thursday, September 28th, Max Villatoro will be appearing at the
Honduran consulate to be interviewed in relation to his R-1 visa
application. This is a critical meeting that will determine if he is
allowed to return to the US with his family. Friends of Pastor Max
steering committee is inviting you to join us for a guided prayer service at
the Iowa Mennonite School in Celebration Hall from 11:30 - 12:30 to pray
during the time Max is being interviewed. You will need to enter the
school via the main entrance, not the lower entrance into Celebration Hall.
▪ J-POG (Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you
to hear Pastor Jose address the topic, "Ministering to refugees." Pastor Jose ministers to the poorest of
the poor in a squatter settlement in northern Mexico. Join us on
Sunday evening, October 1,
2017, at East Union Mennonite Church, 5615 Gable Avenue, Kalona, IA
at 6:00 p.m. for a finger-foods potluck and conversation (please
bring your own table service) or at 7 pm for the presentation and
