Washington Mennonite

▪ Offering for 11/27/16:  $1,890 (Regular)
Financial report: As of the end of November our Annual Blueprint (budget) stands at $-1775.01. Can we erase this deficit and start the new year with a positive balance? Thanks for your continued generous giving to the mission of Washington Mennonite Church. If you have questions, contact Mary Lou Farmer.

Though it seems a long way off, Christmas is coming! We'll be having a 6:00pm service here on Christmas Eve, and, because Christmas falls on a Sunday, we'll also have a 9:30 Christmas Day service. If you or your family would like to volunteer to be a reader, a musician, or to share any other special talents on Christmas or Christmas Eve, let Amanda know as soon as you can!

▪ “I want to apologize for using a public space such as the church bulletin last week to comment on Mary Lou's decibel levels. Though she can be appropriately vocal when need be, calling her loud was unnecessary.
Please accept my apology,
Megan (often too loud) Miller.”

As her Christmas present to the church this year, Amanda commissioned Myron to create the Nativity scene displayed outside the church. Thanks Myron and Martha for all your hard work! The nativity looks great!

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

IMS Food Drive 'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…' Matthew 25:35-36  The IMS chapter of National Honor Society is hosting a food drive to benefit area food pantries. We have set a goal to collect 1,000 food items for the holiday season. Please help us reach our goal. Bring your non-perishable food items to IMS any time between now and Dec. 16.  NHS students will gather and sort the items and deliver them to the Wellman and Kalona food pantries on Dec 16. Thank you for helping your community in this very special way!

On Saturday December 10 Freeman Foods in Wellman will be having their 'Support Your School' event for IMS. On that day 5% of all proceeds at the Wellman store will be donated to IMS. Stock up for holidays and help support IMS!

Christmas Music Concert - December 11 at 2:30PM in Celebration Hall at IMS. The concert will feature Chorale, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and the Symphonic Band.

Prospective Family Christmas Party following the music concert on December 11, we will have a Christmas party for 6th - 8th grade students, transfer students and their families. We will have some Christmas cookies, crafts and games hosted by one of our student groups.

Central Plains Conference

It’s not too late to start Advent family worship. Just go to www.anabaptistfaithformation.org and download “Come, Walk in the Light of Day,” a free guide for family worship from November 27 to January 6.

Video and audio recordings of the three Bible Study Webinars with Meghan Good are available on the Bible Study Webinars page at www.centralplainsmc.org. Make use of these to raise the bar on reading and interpreting the Bible: Sunday School classes and Bible study groups could watch and discuss them together; Sunday School superintendents could use them to train teachers; individuals can watch them for personal growth.

▪ Central Plains Mennonite Conference Prayer Request:  This first Tuesday of the month, join Friends of Pastor Max and the conference ministers in fasting and praying that God would make a way for the Max and Gloria Villatoro Family to be reunited.

Mennonite Agencies

Take chances. Make mistakes. Get messy. Be challenged. Learn some things. Teach some things. Spend a year living somewhere that you never dreamed you'd go... Start now at salt.mcc.org, find answers to frequently asked questions, assignment options and apply! Contact sharonnelson(at)mcc.org for more information.

Mennonite Mission Network (MMN) Prayer Request:  Mennonite Mission Network requests prayer for the Colorado Springs Service Adventure unit as participants work alongside Beth-El Mennonite Church to live out an Anabaptist perspective in a community with a large military population. Pray for David Borbely, Nora Charles, Marle Moellenbruck and Kate Unruh, and leaders Daniel and Meg Smeltzer Miller.

Area Announcements

This Sunday, December 4th following Sunday School (around 11:45), we will have a potluck. We want to show appreciation to God for the good things He has done for us through Corey during these past 5 years as pastor at West Union and offer our blessing to him in his next ministry.  Bring your table service and a dish or two to share and feel free to invite others from the community to attend as well.

Dan Fisher and his eager elves will once again be making and selling cheesecakes for the Christmas season.  The cost is $35 each.  The three scrumptious flavors are Chocolate Ganache, White Chocolate Lemon and Turtle.  You may freeze the cheesecakes to use at a later date.  Order by Monday, December 5 for pickup 9 – 11 a.m. on either Saturday, December 10 or Saturday, December 17.  Proceeds will go to the KMC International Student Aid Fund.  Our current project is Rudi Mucaj from Albania who is in his sophomore year at Goshen College.  To order cheesecakes contact Wanda Miller Beachy at 319.683.3983 or beachydw(at)sharontc.net.  Thank you for your support!

Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church is holding our 3rd N.O.W. (Night Of Worship) on December 11th at 6:30 pm. You are invited to join us in this night of singing Christmas hymns and music. As always, refreshments will be served!”
