From Death to New Life – Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, we witness, with the women and with the disciples, the shocking emptiness of the tomb.  But we are not merely witnesses to and believers in the resurrected life of Christ, we are participants in it.  With living ink, God writes into the stories of our lives the very cycles of life; birth and life and death and, shockingly, exultantly, abundantly, new life again.  This Easter Sunday, we are invited to be raised out of death to new lives of freedom and hope and fullness with Chirst.

Lent 6: The Plot Thickens - Palm Sunday

“The Plot Thickens.”  The Passion Week is thick with multilayered and complex symbolism.  The characters in God’s story are not straightforward.  The people who praised “Hosanna” and hailed Jesus as the coming king may be the very ones who later shouted, “Crucify him!”  Like them, we find ourselves to be deeply complex characters within the covenant story, characters whose unredeemed motives desires, and passions all too often drive our behavior and actions.

Lent 4: Turning Over a New Leaf

“Turning Over a New Leaf.”  As we turn over the page of each chapter in the grand covenant narrative, we find ourselves invited to “re-turn” to the open arms of Christ and his ways, and to experience his good news of reconciliation.
