College Student Care Packages:  Valentines day is fast approaching and is a wonderful time to distribute tokens of love.  Therefore, Washington Mennonite will be sending Valentines Day care packages to the college students that we love (Jacayla Litwiller and Tanner Leyden).  Those who wish to are invited to bring non-perishable treats, small trinkets, cards or notes to the box in the foyer by Sunday, February 8th.  *Amanda will divide, package, and send care boxes early the next week.

Want to influence the Sunday morning sermon?  Once again Amanda is looking for 3-4 people to meet with her to study the scriptures each week in preparation for Sunday.  She’s looking for people who would be able to meet each week during the Lenten season.  The group would meet on Tuesdays (time flexible) for 45 minutes-1 hr from Feb 17th-April 31st.  Please let Amanda know if you are interested!

Are you interested in learning to know your church family better by joining a small group?  The Nurture Ministry is offering this opportunity to all ages starting in February.  If you have questions or are interested, please talk to Mary Lou before Jan 20th.

Jan 25th at 5pm we’ll meet at church for soup and games.  Soup will be provided, bring relish or sides and your favorite game to share.

Cheer cheer cheer for Iowa on Feb 15th!  Join us in cheering on the Iowa Women’s Basketball team on Feb 15h.  Meet at church by 4pm to carpool.  (The game starts at 5pm)  Tickets will be handed out at church on Sunday morning and again when we meet to carpool.  See Megan M or Myron G with questions.

Iowa Mennonite School

IMS principal Tim Lehman recently announced his resignation, effective June 30, 2015.  He will assume the duties of Head of School at Bethany Christian Schools in Goshen, Indiana, where he served as a faculty member and assistant principal prior to coming to IMS.  Tim cited the difficulties of being separated from family during this year, along with the opportunity to return to a familiar institution.  He is highly supportive of IMS, and experienced warmth and hospitality throughout his time at the school.  Please continue to keep the school in your thoughts and prayers during this time of transition, as well as the Lehmans.

All students in 8th grade (or high school students considering a transfer) are invited to visit IMS on Monday, Jan 19th.  Parents are also invited for an hour in the morning, meeting with administrative personnel at 8:15.  Students will visit classes, attend chapel and eat lunch on campus; meet potential classmates, current students, and faculty members; and receive valuable information.  Call the school at 656.2073 or 683.2586; email Candi Schmieder at cschmieder at iowamennonite.org; or register at www.iowamennonite.org/visit/.

IMS seniors and their parents will host and serve the annual Senior Chili Supper, raising funds for their class.  The meal will be served on Saturday, Feb 14th in the gymnasium, and
will include chili (and an alternate option, including vegetarian); potato salad; cheese salad sandwiches; veggie sticks; and homemade desserts.  Tickets are available from any senior or by calling the school at 656.2073 or 683.2586.  Serving will be from 4:30-7:30 pm.

Central Plains Conference

“Tuesdays with Dave” is an online video teleconference for congregations featuring David Boshart, Executive Conference Minister for CPMC.  Dave will address questions of congregational outreach including “How to talk to people about Jesus,” “What to do if a visit shows up in church,” “What to do if a visitor keeps coming to church,” and other congregational outreach opportunities.  Every CPMC congregation is invited to participate in this video teleconference.  We need your help to make this event successful, both in using video teleconference equipment and also encouraging attendance.  The teleconference is planned for Tuesdays in February (10th, 17th, 24th), 2015, at 7:30pm CST.  More information will be available from your pastor or from David Boshart at 319.936.5904.

The Sower Prayer Request:  Please pray for the Central Plains Annual Meeting Task Group as they meet on site in St Paul this week to plan our 2015 Annual Meeting, to take place June 18-21.
