During Advent we’ll be having 15 minutes
of Christmas caroling before our Sunday morning worship services. Carols will
start at 9:15 and our service will start at the usual time, 9:30. Come sing with us to celebrate the season!
Calling all worship leaders, all those who have ever been asked to lead worship,
all those who have wondered what exactly a worship leader is supposed to do,
and all those who have ever had even the slightest inclination to lead worship! Mark your calendars for Sunday, January
19! We’re planning a potluck lunch and
short presentation on the nuts and bolts or worship leading. What is the job of a worship leader? How should the worship leader prepare? How do we lead the congregation into worship? Come to learn the exciting answers to these
and other important questions!
Want to influence the Sunday morning
sermon? Amanda is looking for 3 or 4 people to meet
with her each week to do lectio divina or other small group study on the
assigned scriptures for each Sunday. She’s
looking for people who can commit to meeting for 6 weeks, starting the 2nd
week of January. She’d like to meet on
Tuesdays (time is flexible) for 45 minutes-1 hour. Please let her know if you’d be interested! If this goes well, the group will rotate
every six weeks.
The Family Connections (formerly Parents
as Teachers) is having a fun night
Dec 19 for the families enrolled in the program. If you are looking for a way to give
somewhere this Christmas season, the program needs cut out sugar cookies without frosting. The children who come to the party have fun
decorating the cookies. Contact Becky
Widmer or Carol Detweiler if you can make 1 or 2 dozen cookies. Thanks to the persons who have made them in
previous years!!
‘Caroling caroling now we go’ on Dec
22! Please meet at the church to assemble cookie plates at 5:30 (so bring
cookies or fruit to share) and then we’ll go into the town with ‘joyous voices
sweet and clear.’ We plan on singing at
Autumn Park at 6:30. We’ll meet back at
the church for our own Christmas celebration, so bring goodies for that as
well. See you then! - Megan and Myron, Frivolity Committee

IMS’s Christmas Concert will be presented this afternoon at 3pm in Celebration
Hall. The concert will feature the
sounds of the season, performed by the Chorale, Concert Choir, Symphonic Band,
and other smaller ensembles. All are
invited; the Music Boosters will serve truffles following the program, and all
6th-8th graders are welcome to enjoy a brief Christmas
party at the conclusion of the concert.
Josh Tyson directs the program.
The IMS Alumni Association is sponsoring the annual Alumni Night festivities
on Friday, Dec 20. IMS hosts Pekin that evening, and all alumni
are welcome to register for prizes, and will receive coupons to the concession
stand. Prizes are compliments of
numerous area businesses. Registration
opens at 5pm – the ballgames will begin at 4:30 with a JV contest, followed by
the girls and boys varsity games.

church leadership.

Network Prayer Request: Justin
Shenk and Valerie Showalter of MMN request prayer for the Round Chapel where
they worship and serve in the East End of London. Pray for unity of vision as members discern
how God is calling the congregation to proactive discipleship.
Prayers for faith and learning: Lezha
(Albania) Academic Center would appreciate prayers as they enter the holiday
season. This time of year gives many opportunities
to talk about topics of faith and celebrate the grace and gift of
salvation. Please pray that they will
make the most of the opportunities to share this “Good News” with their
students.
